It was lovely fine days full of comfort from the always helpful stuff, gorgeous garden to walk and relax in, and a marvelous cliff overlooking the marina and sea of Funchal. The balcony/terrace was south oriented - full of flowers in pots, with a sunshade, table and chairs - lovely place to take a glass in the evening.
The only small minus was a bit of possible noise from neighbour's room, but that wasn't a problem, rather just a notice.
This was my second time staying at Cliff bay and it was even more exceptional than the first.
The have very low employee turnover so you are remembered which was very nice:-)

Pestana properties are our 'go to' properties when travelling in Europe. The staff are always super friendly & helpful. Churchill Bay is a lovely authentic fishing village. The hotel has a lovely roof top restaurant. The food was fresh & very well prepared. We stayed 4 nights & dined at the hotel every night. There are many other options but we enjoyed the convenience & birds eye view of the bay's activies at the sunset.

The Hotel had a shuttle to and from the old town of Funchal which was convenient. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This was the cleanest and most user friendly place that we have stayed at. I would recommend this Hotel to every one .
We stayed a week and the staff was incredibly accommodating. At the restaurant they were able to work with our dietary restrictions, for morning hikes when we would miss hikes they arranged a takeaway bag for us to take in the morning. Very clean space and great views.
My husband and I stayed four nights and had a very positive experience. The staff was unfailingly friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in early. The hotel has a low density in terms of number of rooms and a relaxing atmosphere was prevalent. The breakfast buffet (included in price) was excellent and provided a good variety of good quality choices. The pool, while outdoors, was heated sufficiently to allow a swim even when the temperature was on the chilly side. The room was clean...

This is an amazing place for those who wish to explore the north coast of Madeira and stay in a very comfortable, quiet setting. The service and attentiveness of the staff here is top notch, and you can have all the privacy that you desire. Breakfast is very good and if you want Theresa to prepare dinner for you then you just let her know ahead (that morning) and you will not regret it! The level of service, courtesy and kindness demonstrated by the staff was the best I have ever experienced anywhere! The facilities were lovely, very clean, and spacious. Food in all four restaurants was excellent (especially the Med) with great variety and quality. And we loved the breakfasts! I would return in a heartbeat.
We had a fabulous time! The hotel is charming and we had a great room overlooking the ocean. We were upgraded which was a pleasant surprise. The promenade walk is beautiful and for the best fish go to Barqueiro Restaurant off of the promenade. The staff was very helpful! We also walked to downtown Funchal and old section of town- make sure you walk to old part- Street Santa Catarina. Breakfast at hotel was excellent and with great views of the coastline.
Really nice hotel! Felt a little like home away from home. Staff is very friendly and even brought us chocolates made on Madeira. Roof top pool and view is amazing!
