Ames and related destinations
Wander through Iowa State University's campus, where the Campanile tower chimes across manicured lawns and Reiman Gardens showcases butterflies in glass-enclosed splendor. The Main Street Cultural District offers shops in historic buildings that escaped the architectural blandness afflicting most Midwestern downtowns. Cyclones fans create seismic activity at Jack Trice Stadium and Hilton Coliseum, their enthusiasm suggesting sports here might be religion rather than hobby. The Octagon Center displays local art that's surprisingly sophisticated for a town this size. Between government research facilities and the university, Ames maintains a curious blend of agricultural roots and scientific innovation – a college town where test tubes and tractors coexist in unexpected harmony.

AmericInn by Wyndham Ames
"This was a very nice stay. Room was large and comfortable. They had a dehumidifier going so the room was not musty. Staff was great as usual. (We have stayed here a few times.) The price was good. Hot tub was great. Breakfast was good but not great. (I don't like the fake eggs, but they did have waffles and biscuits & gravy, which were good.) Overall, I would recommend and would stay here again."

"Clean rooms and nice breakfast for getting the day started. Friendly staff."
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Ames, IA
"I was in Ames, Iowa for a family emergency. I needed sleep and asked Sandy at check in if she could get me a quiet room. Boy, did she ever. I didn’t hear a peep on the third floor my entire stay.. Even with a ISU football game one weekend. I ended up extending my stay twice and was seamlessly kept in the same room. The room was very clean and up-to-date. The breakfast was solid, rotating scrambled eggs, omelettes, sausages, bacon… and having waffles, granola bars, fruit… available all days. There’s also an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi that’s open all year round, a significant perk in this winter climate. Ames is a college town with lots of hotel choices. Many are very nice and I would put this property among the very top options. It’s conveniently located near I-35 and Highway 30, a quick drive to the Iowa State campus and maybe more importantly, Hickory Park restaurant. If you’ve been to Ames, you know what I’m talking about. There is also a nice Mexican restaurant, an Olive Garden and a pancake house in the immediate vicinity. Many other stores and restaurants are five minutes away on Duff Avenue. And did I mention they have fresh baked cookies in the lobby?"

"My family and I stayed for a fun weekend, and had a wonderful stay. The rooms were clean, and large enough not to feel cramped. From check-in to check-out, the staff was pleasant and helpful, and the breakfast had something for all of us."

"The room was clean. The staff was great and it was the best breakfast we’ve had"
Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Ames
"Checkin was easy and the staff friendly. Our room was small but efficient for 2 people. The bathtub and shower had hairs on them. The carpet had not been vacuumed well, behind the door and under tables was very dusty. The curtain on the windows was very dirty as well. Nothing terrible but it could use a deep clean. Breakfast was simple, bagels, muffins, waffles, boiled eggs."

"Clean quiet was perfect"
Days Inn by Wyndham Ames
"Room was clean, comfortable bed. No hand soap in the room. Mirrors were awful to put on makeup! Breakfast was a joke, waffle maker wasn’t turned on so cold cereal, yogurt or packaged muffins. Smelly pizza box was in the hallway for two days!! Outside garbage was overflowing!! Don’t like kiosk check in!"
