The only drawback is that we could not find a good spot on the river. However, we found a great riverfront park with views of the river through trees. I would've rather Had an unobstructed view of the river. Otherwise I Loved Salem, Oregon.

Fun city to walk with lots of dining options. The historic downtown area is great, and a trip to the state capitol and Willamette University is well worth it. Will go back to explore more!

Prettier than I remembered--lots of tall, mature trees and very clean in the areas I passed through. Traffic on a Friday eve through Sunday mid-day was not a problem at all.

Salem has a variety of restaurants and coffee. It's close to Portland and the coast so it's a good stay if those two other places are too expensive.

I really wish Salem had a shopping mall. I mean it IS the capital of Oregon and Eugene and Woodburn beat it out hands down!

I feel sad for the houseless people sleeping in the doorways of businesses downtown. But I love the town.

"We loved that the hotel was right on the riverfront walkway. Our check in was very friendly and we enjoyed walking the trail to The Old Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Nice bar and breakfast at the lounge was also good."
"This is a very nice hotel. Very clean and excellent service. The hotel is conveniently off the freeway but the trees make it so you don’t feel next to a highway or hear it. Parking is safe and abundant. You have food options and walking all around. The hotel has food service and a very nice bar.
The bed was very comfortable not firm but not mushy. There is an extra futon couch that makes into an extra long twin.
I would stay again and I do recommend the hotel if you need an overnight anytime. "
"I actually really liked it. Nice pool, the rrom was pretty big and you could tell it had been renovated. Nice pool area. All of the staff was great to work with! Close to the freeway and Clakamus Town Center with shopping and restaurants. I would stay here again!"
