Barbara and Garry are wonderful hosts and provided tons of helpful information about the area. The cottages are charming, very clean, and stocked with the basics for a home-cooked meal (also outdoor grill on the porch!) The Red Barn Bakery next door is a great place to pick up pastries and gifts.
Although we only stayed one night the experience was delightful. Beautifully landscaped property right on the water. Very comfortable and perfect for visiting Belfast and Camden.
Hip revamp of an older motel with great beds, beautiful water views, blend of mid century and fresh design with comfort and convenience. Great value. Does have road noise and needs both soundproofing and updated plumbing for hot water...so do most places on Rt 1. Skip overpriced Camden and head north to Dots for food and Belfast for ships and shops.
Excellent stay at the Captain Sweetser's Inn. We were given a warm welcome upon arrival and a brief tour of the property. Saw some deer and fox as we walked the acreage at dusk. The bed was comfortable. The room was quiet. And let's not forget the delicious breakfast the next morning. Loved this place!
Wonderful staff and great hotel. We loved it! If you want quiet and peace do not go to hotel during peak season as it is in a very busy harbor with lots and lots of people. Best time....early fall and late spring. All the Mainers are there and the best restaurants are easy to get into.
We stayed in 7 different B&B's on our vacation and although they were all very nice, this was the best. From the road it's hard to get a feel for the Inn. The intriguing hand carved wood screen door signals something different is ahead. Once inside the beautiful post and beam construction and lovely decor impress and confirm you made the right choice. The owners have a great story that will make you feel envious that your not a wild Maine blueberry farmer with acres of maple trees for syrup...
The room was well decorated and had its own flair. We stayed in the painted lady room and you could tell there was a lot of thought put into everything. There was a space heater due to the room getting really cold and fluffy robes we could use. We only stayed one night but this room was by the front of the house and facing the road so we did get a lot of the street noise. If this is something that would bother you, I would suggest getting a different room at this inn but this place was amazing!...
Loved the view, the back porch. Bed was huge and comfortable. Shower was strong. Clean and comfortable room. Right on US 1, yet quiet, little to no highway sound. Convenient location between Rockland and Camden. Good food in area, even in off season.
Oh my goodness, what an adorable place! Stayed two nights in this lovely little B&B! Hosts were friendly and helpful, breakfasts were wonderful, and location was perfect. Walk to the little town or to the waterfront for some shopping or dining. The home is decorated perfectly. A few things to take note of: the fireplace is not a working one, our bathroom while private was down the hall, and no television in the room. We didn't mind this, but some may.
I arrived at the Island View very late in the evening. I got my key and went right up to my room and went to bed thinking that it was just a regular room in a regular hotel. I awoke the next morning to a stunning view from my private sunroom. If I had any complaint about the hotel it would be that the air conditioning unit was incredibly loud. We didn’t get to enjoy this hotel long enough! We arrived late and the front desk person called us to assure us he’s available even though the door was locked. Beautifully designed and so so comfortable and clean. My favourite was the towel warmer such a treat to get out the shower after a 5 hour drive and that roof view!
