Venture into the dramatic 1,000-foot-deep Tallulah Gorge where six waterfalls thunder through ancient rock. The suspension bridge at Tallulah Gorge State Park dangles visitors above the rushing river for views that justify wobbly knees. Hiking trails along the rim offer less vertigo-inducing but equally spectacular vistas of what's nicknamed 'the Niagara of the South.' After gorge adventures, explore the Foxfire Museum where Appalachian heritage comes alive through preserved log cabins and traditional crafts. The surrounding lakes - Rabun and Burton - provide peaceful retreats for swimming and boating when the summer heat demands water immersion. Despite its tiny population, this town delivers natural drama on a scale that makes visitors feel wonderfully insignificant.

"This is a lovely, small resort on Lake Chatuge in north Georgia. We had a lakeview, king room which was clean and spacious. Excellent shower and coffee maker. The only drawback was some mold in the shower due, probably, to fan not working. We had a small deck overlooking the lake. There is a beautiful pool on property, but it needs repair on tiles. Clean with lots of umbrellas and comfortable seating. There is an excellent restaurant that serves only dinner during the week and a pricey coffee kiosk in the main lobby. They had fire put with s’more offerings each evening. No real breakfast options on site during our stay. The resort is well located near restaurants, boating and swimming areas as well as golf courses. About 7 minutes outside of downtown Hiawassee. We’ll be back."

"The young lady that checked us in, Katherine was gracious, friendly and made sure all amenities advertised were available to us. The motel was very clean, comfortable and quiet as it was off the main road but close enough to easily walk to shops and restaurants."

"It was our first time staying here. I was very impressed with everything. From the price to the location and everything in between. I definitely recommend this place. We will be going back in a couple of months for sure. Also Dorsey was the lady at the guard shack. She was so sweet and very helpful."
