Everything about this hotel was perfect except that we had a room above the patio for the pub and other guests were extremely loud even well past the midnight closing time so we couldn’t sleep.

Delightful cafe with an excellent breakfast. The rooms are large and well appointed. Mine had a nice balcony with a view of the castle. The weather was unseasonably warm but the large ceiling fan worked perfectly. There is a comfortable gathering room with couches, tables and chairs along with self service beverages and games. I would definitely stay here again.

The location is GREAT on the main road in Appenzell. The staff is super friendly and helpful in suggestion things to do. The breakfast was very good as well.
