However, if you did not rent a car buyer beware that it is a long and steep climb/walk to the hotel from any bus stops or ferries. And Ubers/taxis are hard to come by. Other than that the walk itself is beautiful just a little bit difficult.

This is one of the most spectacular places I’ve ever stayed. The room was very large with a beautiful patio overlooking Lake Como. The breakfast was large and amazing serving foods from their own private gardens. Mary and her staff are outstanding and I cannot recommend this hotel enough! Don’t miss a chance to stay here! I would say of our five weeks in Italy and most of the experiences being very good this one did not disappoint. Nice room and a wonderful location close to everything. Quaint town without all the congestion. Updated room with balcony on the second level. Only comfort issue was the mattress very firm but as things go in Italy it has been the norm. Our room - in the annex - was lovely and squeaky clean...and OMG THE VIEW! We enjoyed the pool and breakfast was delicious. If we return to Menaggio, we will stay at the Hotel Royal.
