Friendly helpful staff, nice room, good value for the $.

The stay was just like what was described and pictures. Very clean, modern and had a heat pump that was adjusted just right especially during this winter time. The bonus was having a private spa pool and hot pool, it was perfect time to relax after a tiring day doing the Tongariro Crossing. The procedure to this self check-in suite was easy and instructions were clear. Great location

Sue and John were such wonderful owners of the motel. They were very helpful, fetched us from the railway station and took us to town to buy our groceries. The motel had all the facilities needed and you can rent you skiing gears at the motel itself. Plenty of supply of firewood and beautiful view of Mt Ruapehu.

Comfortable accommodations, good value. Access to large backyard for stargazing. Fairly close to Tongariro visitor center. Helpful staff.

My lodging was a pop up little cabin that had interesting design features that made for a comfortable and convenient stay. Accessed through a little semi covered atrium or vestible that had a table with chairs, bathtub, sofa what was sealed from rain by the roof and from lateral wind directed rain by an open mesh awning that could be shut but not locked leading to the cabin itself which had a larger than expected room with heater, air on, mini fridge, bathroom with shower, and fully blacked out...

Great setting, wonderful owners, lovely property. Think it may have been our favorite stay on the North Island.

This is a small (5 rooms?) "green" boutique hotel where they generate their own electricity via solar panels and use captured rainwater and runoff around the compound. The peaceful pond just outside our room added to the serenity of our visit; and across the pond, off in the distance, we enjoyed the most incredible view of the Tongariro National Park. We stayed on December 31, and the owners were extremely friendly, inviting all of their guests to join them for a New Year's Eve celebratory...

Room was immaculate. Mary was a gracious host with excellent recommendations for hiking and dining.

Very charming hotel! Wish we had more time to stay. The property feels very much like a ski lodge and I'm sure is gorgeous in the winter. Just as nice and more quiet in the summer! We ate at the more casual restaurant - great food and enjoyed having drinks on the rooftop patio. We didn't have a chance to swim in the heated pool but it looked lovely. We loved learning that some of the Lord of the Rings cast stayed here when they were filming! 10/10 recommend
