The suite contained separate bedroom, kitchen/living area w fireplace, bathroom w sauna, and water closet. The living and bedrooms each had a bay window overlooking the town of Matrei in Osttirol, charming is an understatement. The restaurant served probably one of the best steaks I ever had in Europe and the staff were all very friendly and helpful to us American travelers. Our only regret was not staying more than one night.

Hotel Sonne is a comfortable hotel right in the center of Lienz, a quick walk from the train and bus stations. The interior of the building itself is definitely dated and a bit austere, but that really didn’t impact my stay. My room was comfortable and had a fantastic view of the mountains. The breakfast options were great, and I appreciated that breakfast itself started at 6:00 (I’m an early riser). The staff were friendly and accommodating. Very nice place to stay in the middle of the beautiful Alps. Our 2 bedroom apartment was really spacious with a large living room and bathroom, that contains a small sauna. That's was really good experience. Apartment has a full kitchen including dishwasher and oven, that would be very useful for longer stay. And the view no doubts is wonderful. Hotel staff was really nice and welcoming. Breakfast was included. Not a very large choice, but for such a small hotel it was quite good.
