Such a quaint and charming place! The hotel reflects traditional Japanese architecture and decor. Very delicious Japanese breakfast. Extremely satisfied!! Close to bunny island too! The hotel staff helped us get a taxi to get to the bunny island dock.

This hotel is unlike anything I have seen in Japan. It has California/Palm Springs vibes thanks to the modern open air architecture, white washed clean buildings, amazing indoor/outdoor flow, and fantastic location right on the water. A beautiful room in a beautiful hotel. So very close to the JR line station (200 meters door to door), easy access to the rest of Japan via the Shinkansen Trains, a great hub for exploring Western/Southern Japan. Only 30 minuets to Hiroshima, 2 hours to Osaka, and under 5 hours to Tokyo.

I have been attracting by Setouchi Shimanami Kaito bike touring for a long time through Taiwanese cycling enthusiasts. At age 75, my wife thinks I am crazy. I booked two nights at Suminoe for 6/17 and 18. The spacious room with ocean view and bidet toilet are very impressive. Miss Wang who is in charge, is very intelligent. This is an older hotel, as you can see from the photos, but I was pleasantly surprised by how well maintained it is. A typical business hotel with everything you need. It was the first hotel during my six weeks in Japan that provided charging cables for all kinds of devices. The breakfast was good, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. We absolutely loved this place. It was by far our favorite stay during our 10 days in Japan. Definitely recommend spending extra on the dinner, it was amazing.

Just the most incredible experience we've ever had in a hotel. So much more that just a hotel, it's a whole Japanese luxury experience. This location is right next to Saijo station - an excellent place to stay with quick access to Sakagura street to visit all of the sake breweries. My only complaint is there’s only one elevator for the whole hotel so for events like the Saijo Sake Matsuri it takes a long time to get to and from your room, and the breakfast area becomes very crowded. they do have a washer and dryer which I used twice very convenient very efficient. I became very aware of my American biases based on my first impression. But I quickly found out what a beautiful authentically Japanese experience this was. It’s hard to get there, but if you find the right bus line, you can get from Fukuyama station all the way up to the national park. The property is older and a bit dated, but it just feels historical to me.
