"Extremely disappointed - spa and pool closed due to building work, not clearly stated on Expedia. Specifically booked for these facilities after a very long drive. Hotel needed updating and didn’t feel immaculately clean. Front desk was a mess. Paid £144 for one night in a room that felt like a Premier Inn room with a fridge added. Stains on carpet, no pictures or nice touches apart from robes and slippers. Sofabed looked tired and old. Cooked breakfast was good but continental had only mandarin segments - no other fruit and no choice of cereals or pasties. Dining room was bland and dark with no atmosphere - we asked to put music on as it was deathly quiet. Best thing was free parking in a lovely historic town and the shoe shop opposite which was a Sketchers outlet selling end of line with at least 50% discount. Thai restaurant a few doors down from hotel was excellent with outstanding food. Wouldn’t stay again. "

"Friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. Comfortable rooms with good ensuite facilities at a great price. Restaurant has excellent dishes at good prices and the bar serves a good range of drinks again at good prices. A Continental Breakfast is included and there is no cooked breakfast option. The only drawback is the lack of a lift and one or two floors are a bit unveven but to be expected at over 400 years old. "

"Really great pub & hotel. If you catch it on one of those nice sunny evenings, I’m not sure there are much nicer locations by the river in Shropshire. Food was really nice too, quick service & my hotel room was clean & spacious. Thanks a great stay."

"Clean and lovely. Hotel is a historic charm. Do not expect corporate hotel, this is VERY old but delightful. There is no sound proofing, no even floors etc. If you are dull and complain about minor traffic noise etc, do not even bother staying here. This is a place for people who love history and appreciate the engineering of yesteryear. Staff were helpful. "

"Staff were so lovely and welcoming. Dinner was really delicious, and served quickly, portions a great size. Breakfast equally lovely! They’ve got a little outside area to enjoy a drink, and loads of parking. The village is really cute as well. Definitely staying again!"

"Lovely place to stay but probably for one or 2 nights. The menu doesn’t change and there are no “specials “ so you have limited choice if eating there each night. Breakfast good but the fruit mentioned didn’t appear. The accommodation is up several flights of steps( we stayed with dogs) so your mobility has to be good "
