If you carry on walking you'll get to Pathhead Sands for some more water views.
Dalhousie Castle is the ideal place if you're looking to stay in a castle in the Edinburgh area. It's about a 20 minute taxi ride from the city center which is just far enough to be out in the peaceful Scottish countryside. The castle itself is absolutely beautiful, and sits on grounds that are equally so, with archery, falconry, and several great walking paths.
The staff at the hotel were extremely nice and accommodating - we were even greeted by a nice gentleman in full Scottish garb who...
Ellie, the receptionist, was AMAZING. We arrived at the hotel exhausted and frustrated due to getting lost and other reasons not involving the hotel. I was not very nice when we arrived and irritated about not finding the parking lot. Lovey, kind, and helpful Ellie took care of us. She went above and beyond to comfort us and make us comfortable. She even exited the hotel and personally took me to the parking lot!!! God bless you Ellie for a wonderful stay.
A great location near the Haymarket rail station. Very convenient for exploring the city, being very close to the tram and bus stop. Nice hotel room; a bit small but very clean. Very nice staff at check-in and at the bar. Did not try the restaurant (there are many choices nearby).
We stayed at The Raeburn for one night on a recent trip to Edinburgh but wish we could have stayed a few more! The room was huge with lovely woodwork and a marble bathroom (the fixtures were top-notch with a huge tub, huge shower, double sink, and towel warmer). Our king-sized bed was very comfortable and there was also a large flat-screen TV. The elevator made it easy to get to our room and there was parking on-site. The staff was friendly and helpful. They gave us champagne to help us...
Close to the Edinburgh castle, and transportation to airport. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Elevator does not reach the 3rd floor, a wee annoying but not a problem for us.
This was my second stay at Voco Haymarket. I want to say how utterly marvelous the staff are. Super polite, helpful, capable, professional from front desk, house keeping to breakfast waitstaff. I think it is one of the best hotels I have stayed at because of the staff. It's also spotlessly clean, quiet with a wonderful breakfast buffet. Great restaurants nearby and an easy walk to the tram. It will always be my first pick when staying in Edinburgh.
This is a great hotel for location and comfort. I don't sleep well in hotels but these beds and pillows were fantastic! Multiple options to choose from. I slept great. Dozens of great eating options within 3 blocks of hotel. Needed a cab at 4:30 am for our getaway and they arranged it. Great breakfast every morning too!
Amazing, quaint hotel that also still serves as the Royal Scots Club. Located in a more quiet part of New Town, yet only a few blocks away from St. Andrews Square, Princes Street & Stockbridge.
Hotel atmosphere might be a bit too settled for families with small children or younger partygoers & clubberers, everyone else who is looking for a nice and quiet retreat from the hectic and tourist filled city and a friendly, personal staff should not get disappointed.
Our stay was truly wonderful. The staff were all quite friendly and helpful and the included amenities made us feel as if we were at home. Our unit had everything we could have wanted, from included wifi to luxurious bed linens, a clothes washer/dryer, a fully-stocked kitchen with dishwasher (even including dishwasher tablets and washing-up liquid), large soaking bathtub with a rainfall shower head plus a handheld nozzle, and blackout curtains that were very welcome for the long days of June in...
