I loved that old cottage and am glad it is in good use. It's nicely furnished and the village where it is situated is delightful. Two negatives were the dog smell in the lounge and poor state of plants in pots. While the dog smell is probably unavoidable as dogs are allowed, the dead plants brought about a depressing impression. Being a gardener, I tried to look after the remaining plants and had to transplant one huge heuchera plants that was literally hanging in the air as its pot was...

The only difficulty was for our room. It was on the second floor but the lift didn't actually go to the floor the room was on. It was a bit strange, so, after the first day, we avoided the lift for the rest of our stay. However, that was minor. In general, the room and the hotel were terrific. Customer was service was phenomenal and the breakfast was quite good. It was a comfortable and pleasant stay all around.

We had been traveling for about 18 hours when we finally arrived at the hotel. We were treated warmly and our room was ready even though we were there before check-in time. The room had a view of the water, was very clean, had tea and coffee in the room, along with biscuit snacks. The bathroom had a lovely shower, however it was impossible to keep the water inside the shower due to its design. We enjoy a full English breakfast which was delicious and more than enough.
