Grounds are absolutely beautiful for golfers or families, alike. 20 minutes away from Mullingar and 5 minutes from Tyrrellspass, with shopping, pubs, historical sites (Belvedere, Lake Ennell) nearby. Spacious rooms allow for plenty of room to spread out and enjoy some privacy. Close to all highways to get you where you need to go. Highly recommend for those looking for a taste of Ireland with modern amenities.
Simply fantastic. The staff and accomodations were excellent, and we so appreciated receiving a very kind complimentary room upgrade to celebrate our anniversary. The history of the castle and surrounding land is fascinating and steeped in lore, and we enjoyed learning more about this this very special part of the heart of Ireland.
Coming from the states with extensive travel experience, I can say that it is shocking to have a hotel where every feature feels like the main feature. The restaurants and bar are self sufficient - they do not seem to need the hotel to exist, very uncommon in my experience. In fact, it was clear that there were regular customers there, making me feel very at home. To that point, the staff was extremely courteous and informative of local events.
The room was large, clean and well furnished with an enormous bed. The breakfasts were all delicious and served in a stately dining room. But the best part of our stay at Ivyleigh House was the friendly and helpful proprietors, Dinah and Jerry. In spite of being busy with the tasks of running the facility, they were always willing to answer questions and provide valuable advice for making our roaming about the country easier and more enjoyable. Wonderful quaint hotel. I was enjoying a beer after work and a Christmas party broke out. Santa, kid choir, snow outside, parents, grandparents were all enjoying the festivities.
Beautiful old house with large bedroom. Very comfortable bed (one of the best out of 14 hotels) which was much needed due to the jet lag. Wonderful staff and walkable village shops and pubs
The Heritage is by all rights a 5 star, not a 4 star hotel. The rooms, property, and staff are all top notch! The only issues I encountered are beyond the control of the Heritage -- There are not enough taxis (I travelled to/from The Heritage by train) and if you are planning to use one, for instance, to make rail connections, plan well ahead and reserve a taxi if possible. The other thing that would be nice is if there were more dining options nearby -- But again, this is beyond the control...
We had a wonderful stay at Dooly's. The staff members (in all areas) were the friendliest, nicest, and most helpful that we have EVER experienced. The food was absolutely delicious and servings were plentiful (breakfast and dinner). Regarding the rooms, the decor and facilities were simple and straightforward, which was fine, and the shower had great pressure and the bed was comfortable with several soft but supportive pillows. Such a wonderful, welcoming experience!
