We did not drive so we did not visit the near by town. The hotels food was delicious. Dinner was cheap but the breakfast was a little pricey.
Would recommend others to stay here. Room was huge and very clean.
Great location. English speaking staff and well rounded in other languages too. Accommodating with holding our luggage. Private Onsen available for families or couples that just want to be alone.

Great room with a stunning view of Mt. Yotei ! Just could not get enough of that . Food options were great too since I do not eat authentic Japanese food . And the Onsen is wonderful .
Check-in was a little odd using a machine, but there was an employee who helped us. The nearby lake was beautiful, although we didn't have the clearest view from our room. The free sake was fun in the lobby. Breakfast was also tasty. The Japanese-style mattress (futon) could have used a bit more padding.
