TRIBE Manchester Airport
6/10 Okay
"Staff didn’t seem to care. There was a flight cancellation which meant long waits for check in and to use the lift. Told I couldn’t use dining facilities due to the flight cancellation. Was put in a wheelchair access room which meant the sink was low and water ever After a shower. No fridge. Nowhere for a suitcase.
On the plus it was very handy for the train/bus station"
"Stayed at the Royal Hotel and really enjoyed it. The room was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly, and the location was spot on for getting around. Good value for money and we would happily stay again."
"I can’t fault this hotel for the location - it’s the reason we have stayed here twice this year. But honestly, the whole hotel needs ripping out and starting again to bring it up to date. There are limited plugs in all rooms. None of them have any plugs near the bed. There are NO USB sockets anywhere. There is no aircon, and the air cooling system fails when it gets too hot. The showers are weak and badly positioned. There is (poor quality) handwash in the bathrooms, but no complimentary toiletries or basic vanity kits. There are, however, plenty of towels in each room and of a good size. The beds are comfortable. If you want to blow dry your hair, you can only see yourself in the dressing mirror if you’re over 6ft tall.
The hotel is currently refurbing the lobby reception area, and the noise of works throughout the day is hugely disruptive in rooms, even 3 floors above. If you’re jet lagged or wanting a lie in, sleep is the last thing you’ll get.
I also have security concerns as anyone can enter the hotel lifts and access any floor of the hotel, no room keys are required to operate them."
"I have stayed here a few times now as a convenient venue for morning flights. The Hoppa Bus stops here. I have also had a few conferences here in earlier years before I retired. Imagine my delight when, this time, I had a room upgrade. Thank you!"
"Clean room, excellent service staff, USB outlets and AC power doesn't work, except if using UK plugs. Alarm clock dysfunctional. Air Conditioning stuck on 23° Celsius. Had to borrow or pay €10 for UK to US converter. Thankfully they loaned me the converter. Just came in 8:45pm and left 5:30am for next day flight.
Service is excellent."
"The hotel is very centrally located and in a great spot near a lot of shops, theatres, and restaurants. While the service leaves something to be desired, as you have to check in and get your own room keys on a self-service tablet that is not very customer-friendly, and they do not clean the rooms during your stay. If you want towels, you will have to ask the person in the lobby, and the trash does not get taken out. The room itself was fine, very minimal, but it was clean and had everything you might need. The issue is the toilet. The "room" with the toilet is encased in glass that is frosted. This does not leave any privacy from the rest of the room, and everything can be clearly heard from the toilet to the rest of the room. This hotel is great if you are looking for a fairly reasonably priced room that is centrally located and has the bare necessities and nothing else."
"I stayed at this hotel for several nights, the room was clean and quiet, although it was cold (17 C) as I could not adjust the temperature by the thermostat. The location initially appeared to be difficult to get to as I had a long walk from the Metro (Overground). I later found that there is a bus route that stops by very close to the hotel, so I was able to use that which made it very convenient. The restaurant was large and spacious. The scenery is very good as it is located on the riverside which affords views of the office buildings across the river."
"It’s one of those hotels that is now very dated and was probably still dated 20 years ago. No aircon so not ideal during the summer but room had a fan tbf. Check in was annoying. We looked to check in 1h early annd told to either pay £20 for early check in or £10 per item for storage and come back in 1h. No flexibility and staff refused to budge. First impressions stick so avoid. Did not do breakfast as £18 pp as that’s a crazy price. Overall, room was clean and tidy but avoid due to severe ageing and terrible check in."
