Clean room, amenities, massage chair, suite-like room, futuristic Toyo toilet, TV in each room, two beds, spacious bathroom, the whole package. I stayed for three nights in the Luxury suite. It was worth it. They have three restaurants in the hotel. The Zao Ropeway is 5 to 10 minutes away. You can by your gondola tickets at the front desk at a discounted price. Location wise, you are literally near the slopes. The bus terminal is a 7 to 10 minute walk.

Incredible experience at Suzukiya Ryokan! Staff is incredible! They speak some English and you can communicate perfectly fine with all of them. They are so incredibly kind and welcoming! I love cold weather and snow, so that part of Northern Honshu was perfect for me. I also have family in the area to drive me to Zao, which is a lot easier than taking the bus! This hotel is clearly on the older side, but that really didn't detract from the whole experience, which was positive. The bath was relaxing and though it wasn't large, I never felt over crowded. The beds were comfortable~ sort of an amalgam of futon and boxspring. Though I wish they were on the tatami, it was nice...
