We were just in town for the night, but we adored this quaint inn and town. The room was modern, comfortable, and had everything you would need. The traditional breakfast (plus so many other options) was delicious with a great variety. We also ate dinner in the Red Dragon Pub the night before and were impressed by the service, food, and atmosphere. Come for the town and the Red Dragon Inn!
The bedroom and bathroom were lovely, the breakfasts amazing, the staff always happy to help and the location just off the A590 was perfect for exploring the whole Lake District. My only rejoinder was that the stairs to the rooms are a little challenging for someone like me who is mobility impaired. Another excellent dog friendly stay at the Gateway. Staff were welcoming to us and our dogs (they weren't just tolerated).
