Head to this museum, that sits in the grounds of the opulent Royal Pavilion, any time between late May and mid-August and your kids can get stuck into one of their arts and crafts workshops. Throughout the summer break, there are also storytelling sessions to keep little ones enthralled.

There’s a great selection of fine art to marvel at, from old masters to modern pioneers, as well as a gallery that tells the story of modern Brighton. Another section is devoted to Brighton’s performing culture, where kids can create their own DIY Punch and Judy puppet show. Head 5 miles north of Brighton and you’ll come across an incredible 330-foot-deep V-shaped valley named Devil’s Dyke.
