Hastings District Hotels

Everything about this hotel was perfect - the grounds, the buildings, the furnishing, the food, the staff. The setting is near an apple orchard and landscaping beautiful. The building is over 100 years old and totally refurbished to beauty and comfort. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the surroundings.

Great location in town. Room was quiet and warm. Easy walk across the road to the waterfront or round the corner to the mall and restaurants. Has plenty of character in the hotel. Rooms are not large, but they don't need to be. Main bar downstairs closed early on a Friday night, 9 pm, but the interconnecting Irish bar was still going. Car parking was easy enough in the street out front, but council do have cars with number plate readers patrolling and enforcing so make sure you pay from 8am.

Fay was great and incredibly helpful

We stayed for a weekend getaway and everything at this hotel was just perfect. I called ahead to request an early check in and the front desk person was very personable and helpful and left a great impression. The hotel is decorated beautifully and the rooms are spacious with great amenities. Lovely robes and slippers, coconut bath products, towel warmer, wet bar sink and coffee setup - the attention to detail makes this a more luxury stay. There is a great restaurant on site with room service...

The owners Tom and Esther are fantastic host's and the accommodation is perfectly located for views and walking distances to most of the best Napier has to offer. Would not stay anywhere else in Napier, 10/10 would recommend everytime.

Carol was so welcoming when we arrived!! Very spacious and clean. Wish we could have stayed longer

Very nice lodging.

We had an amazing experience. Highly recommend staying here.

Great find on a road trip through NZ

Office rep was really friendly and helpful since we needed to do laundry and did not have change for machines. We got coins from him and did the laundry

Very cute and well-kept suite with Jacuzzi and interesting 1950's retro items. In town and short Uber to/from wineries.

Nowadays the rooms in motels are SO tiny, you almost feel claustrophobic, but Cumberland's rooms are large and comfortable, well supplied, clean, and windows with cross-ventilation. Even the bathrooms are large. We were very impressed, enjoyed our 9-day stay there immensely, and would definitely book there again. Cumberland Motel is just about in the center of Hastings, New Zealand, so we also had easy access to wherever we wanted to go. The owners were very hospitable, too, and we honestly...

Solid place to stay. Kind of 50 to 60's vibe to it, although updated. Park right at your entry. Stayed in room #4, which was a end unit, all units are ground level. 3 nights in mid-November 2025. Negatives: Wi-fi was a bit weaker & only working 50% of the time, Too much outside light shining in at night - particularly on the car parking side, awkward hand sanitizer dispenser instead of soap at sink, No USB ports. Positives: Easy check-in. Room was quiet, clean, & comfortable. Water was...
