We stayed with our adult children at the Hotel Obermaier during Octoberfest. It was all that we had hoped for. It is a traditional hotel with a good restaurant attached. It is convenient by Metro to downtown Munich. It is much more reasonably priced than closer-in hotels. Our room and bathroom were comfortable. The breakfast was unbelievably generous and delicious. We will definitely stay at the Hotel Obermaier if we are fortunate enough to return to Munich, particularly during Octoberfest.
We picked the end of September to stay at the hotel. Since the hotel does not have air conditioning we were concerned, but at the end of September, the weather was perfect! The room was really cool and they provided a fan before we checked in. Could not have asked for a better hotel. The staff was really friendly when we first arrived and they spoke great English. This made our stay very comfortable. We traveled with our 2 yrs old and he loved the view of the room.
Perfect for what we needed the little shower had excellent water pressure- No a/c but they provide a fan we placed in the window that helped cool off the room - Our room was on the courtyard side 2nd floor and the people smoke out there in the mornings making the room fill and smell of cigarettes. If that doesn’t bother you then it’ll be just fine otherwise don’t get a room facing the courtyard. Breakfast was ok at best.
As an experienced traveler, I've become very picky about the places I stay and felt the K&K Hotel was perfect. The hotel was clean, well maintained, and was very comfortable. At first the location seemed pretty quite distant from the ‘Old City’, however you couldn't ask for a better location. Amazing staff and perfect location. Very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. Easy walk to almost everything and it’s a super quick uber to Oktoberfest.
First trip to Germany, and my wife and I stayed here to enjoy Oktoberfest! Couple of quick tips and notes:
1) You're a 5 minute walk to the main Oktoberfest venue, which is a series of huge tents where people drink and sing all day. You won't need an Uber to get around the main areas of the city.
2) Your right across from the train station! Super quick access in/out of Munich.
3) Down the street are a bunch of restaurants, bars, clubs, etc. Many folks go to after-parties at their hotel bar or...
It’s a great hotel on all accounts. Except it should be noted for individuals with mobility issues that you have to go up five steps to get to the elevator and it only goes up six floors. It does not go to the seventh floor. That really should be in the info on the website somewhere. If it was, I didn’t see it in. I was fine, but this was an FYI for others.
The fact that Hotel Europa is slightly off the beaten path (though ON the tram line) counts as an advantage. While I stayed at the Europa and enjoyed quiet surroundings, companions stayed near the Hauptbahnhof and had a terrible time with the noise of night-long partiers and seedy surroundings.
