The breakfast is fine but limited in choice, the room has a very small desk so not ideal for doing work but the lounge is nice and the hotel is very modern and clean. I hear the sushi is really good so has food and bar options in the hotel. Price is very reasonable for downtown location."

So happy we stayed here. Location is great and the hotel has everything you need. If you are visiting NY, and interested in what happens outside of your room in the city, instead of the superficial amenities or the plastic luxury of cookie-cutter hotels, the St. James is perfect. Clean, wonderful staff, unbeatable location, and at a price that makes sense. Great place!

What an unusually perfect hotel for Manhattan. It's clean, classy, calm, family friendly, and next to all the stuff you love about New York, from Italian joints on 9th Ave to Broadway theaters around the corner. I've stayed there multiple times now and it's better each time.
It was a great place to stay! A bit small for all my luggage and equipment for work but worked out! I love the stairs idea but very difficult for all the heavy luggage and hair equipment I had to carry up and down.
It was extremely well maintained. Perhaps the only flaw was that the Air conditioning used to turn off and turn on periodically instead of being on all the time
