It’s important to understand what this place is before booking: it is primarily a serious swimming facility, with accommodation attached. The pool is lane swimming only, so if you’re looking for somewhere where your children can play, splash around and enjoy a pool, this probably isn’t the right choice.
The hotel itself was OK. The location was good, with plenty going on nearby and lots of places to eat and drink within easy reach. Breakfast was fairly basic, mainly cereal and pastries, although the guy running the café where breakfast was served was friendly, smiley and helpful.
Our room’s air conditioning wasn’t particularly effective, which was disappointing in the heat. We also arrived late and the guy on reception seemed somewhat put out by our arrival, which wasn’t the warmest welcome.
There were also a few quirks to the place. You need a code to use the lift, and you are required to leave your room key at reception when you go out — with a fine if you don’t. It’s not necessarily a problem, but it does feel a little unusual.
Overall, this is probably best suited to people who are visiting primarily for the swimming facilities and want somewhere convenient to stay. If you’re choosing a hotel for a family holiday and want a pool where the kids can have fun, I would look elsewhere.
