Room was super clean and had air conditioning which was a huge relief during a heat wave. Food downstairs was really yummy and the garden was really nice. Easy walk from the train station too. Would recommend this place!

A great find

The 2 day trip was a birthday present for my partner. She was delighted with the room, the modern shower facilities, the friendly, helpful staff, the excellent food (both evening meal and breakfast) and the location (just 5 minutes walk from the magnificent cathedral).

Although the property is in the centre of town, it was very quiet and calm. The room was amazing, plenty of space, comfortable bed and no noise heard from the pub or other residents. The menu offered was good with plenty of options as was the breakfast. I would not hesitate to stop there again when I visit the area.

Lovely hotel and pub. Close to city centre and lots of shops and restaurants Breakfast was delicious with quality ingredients. Staff were really helpful. Room was compact but had everything we needed Car park out the back was free too

Room was a small.double but still okanty if room for 2 if us. Lovely decorated had and everything u need. Breakfast was amazing with a great choice all included in the price. Only issue we had was parking as we arrived at lunchtime and the carpark was full but plenty if onstreet parking within a 5 min walk

Nice welcome - useful tips on parking. Extra mile to make sure my partner was OK as she has sight issues. Great location, a popular evening pub, a great location for the riverside, the Cathedral and the main attractions.

The location was brilliant for looking around Ely which is beautiful. The room was lovely decorated and the bathroom was amazing especially the shower. We was in room 3. The cooked breakfast choice was good and was nice. We parked in the free public car park behind the pub which is brilliant if you are able to get a space.

Excellent stay. Great staff.

We received a warm welcome and were shown to our room. The room proved to be very comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. The mattress was super comfy as were the towels provided. The room did suffer from road noise from early in the morning, however, everything else made up for this. The stay included a free breakfast so our expectations were low. We were surprised to be given a full menu to chose from: full English, salmon etc.. plenty to chose from and delicious. Good value for money.

Great Saturday overnight stay in centre of Ely in Rm 2 -free car parking in the public car park to the rear of pub, comfortable bed/pillows, brilliant air-con, tea/coffee in room, iron/board & plenty of hot water for shower or bath. Really lovely staff, great service & a superb cooked to order breakfast. My only criticism - a larger shelf near sink area to put things down on in the bathroom.

A real royal standard of service!

Really was of 'royal' standard! A hotel of really high quality. Well presented, comfortable room with AC. All the amenities, beautiful decor. The pub itself served delicious, fresh food both in the evening and for breakfast. Full English was amazing!! Breakfast is included and there was good variety. Properly home cooked. Finally, their customer service was excellent. We moved there from another (terrible) accommodation. The owner/pub landlord himself arranged an early check in for us. At reception, staff were all so nice - took our bags up for us, bug smiles at dinner and breakfast and organised quick nibbles for us before we left for wedding we'd come to Ely for. I would definitely recommend the Royal Standard. Would stay there again if back in Ely. 10/10.

Over priced and unclean

I was really looking forward to my stay but it was rather disappointing For the price I would have atleast expected the room to be clean On first arrival after reading there was free parking I had to ring them to find out where it was , it’s in a free car park at the back of the building which would have helped to know in advance The room on first appearance was small but appeared ok , but after looking closer the surfaces were all covered in dust , on top of the bedside tables , lamps , top of radiator, the box edges around the room , even the hanging tv cable was thick with it There was also a dirty smudge on a pillow case but luckily that was easily removed and was too tired to think more of it Then on and off throughout the night what sounded like a macerator kept going off . The room is also above the entrance to the pub and rather noisy along a busy central road so I was woken severally times through the night As they are single pane old windows and there are also speed bumps the vans and cars going over making a racket through the night The only plus about this trip was the food , it was nice enough and the ladies that served were lovely , but feel this was an overpriced room with how in clean it was I only stayed one of the 2 nights I booked and found other accommodation for my second night

Friendly greeting from the staff, an exceptional room soundproofed so you'd have no idea there was a bar below. Exceptionally presented rooms with handy toiletries and a very decent breakfast. We were very impressed and will book again on our next visit
