Upon getting into our room, there were flies buzzing around in the bathroom. It took 30 minutes to kill them.
The ice bucket was covered in oily finger prints from the previous guest. The inside of the ice bucket had melted ice and a dirty spoon and smears of some white pasty substance.
There was NO hot water for our room. We ran the shower and sink for over 5 minutes and it was ice cold. The guest in the room next to us also had no hot water and multiple issues with his room (room #1).
The drape rod by the front door fell loose. It had been gerry-rigged with a thin piece of wire to hold it in place where the bracket wasn't screwed into the wall/ceiling.
The jacuzzi had debris and hair floating on the top. The guest in room 1 also mentioned this to us.
It is nearly impossible to get hotel staff on the phone. It took over 4 hours for hotel management to return a call regarding a refund for our room.
Over 2 weeks later, I have not received the refund The Monkey Tree manager promised me over the phone and in writing.
Hotels.com has also dropped the ball with this matter.
I am now disputing the entire charge on my credit card since we only stayed the first night and canceled for the remaining 2.
Avoid the Monkey Tree Hotel unless you want to deal with a lot of headaches.
