8/10 Very good

The beach view was lovey. We were fortunate to get parking across the road without restrictions overnight.
Craig, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Absolutely run down, our door had about a 10cm gap under it, could hear everything from other rooms/landing. Got woke up with loud noises from pipes? Bathroom dirty dead spider on the floor, hairs in the shower, cracks all on the ceiling, carpet all frayed up and wallpaper hanging off parts of wall. Bedding had marks on it too. Hardly slept the whole weekend Tried looking for someone to speak to both Mornings and none about.

Staff is good but the accommodation needs improvement on the rooms

6/10 Good

Hotel average at best, but it was cheap so you get what you paid for. No lifts, shower in a closet, with carpet on the floor. Staff extremely friendly helpful.

The bed was a bit hard and the parking options are not great, but other than that it’s a good hotel with easy walking access to everything in aberystwyth

8/10 Very good

The reception member of staff was excellent throughout our stay. Very friendly and approachable. I can’t comment on the service of the room as there wasn’t any. The room was very clean and equipped with a good hairdryer, ironing board and iron if you needed it along with soap and shampoo etc. The whole building is very tired and could do with money being spent on it especially the stair carpet which is thread bare in places and could be a hazard. It was fine for our needs.

Stayed in #11 of Cardigan Bay Guest House and it had a gorgeous view of the ocean, size just right for one or two guests. Easy walking distance to most everything In Aberystwyth. Friendly staff! 50 steps up the stairs as it is on the top floor. Would stay there again.

6/10 Good

The property is on the seafront near the dog friendly area of the beach so very convenient for us. The room was small and run down, the bathroom door did not shut and there was no running cold water however the water was fixed very quickly when we mentioned it. The stay was ok but we will not be returning as there are far better places to stay in Aberystywth.

Great place to stay for the night

Location is amazing, right at the beach. The welcome was warm and great, really nice to be invited like this. The room was comfortable and large enough. Very nice shower (albeit rather small) and beds were good. Sea-view from the room was lovely and very good coffee facilities provided. The overall look of the place is very tired (haggard one might say) and could do with an upgrade, especially considered the price of the room (room only!).

The property is run down, ceiling and walls are cracked. Shower cabinet is very small and also the entire bathroom you can barely move around. Do not waist your money on this one!

It was ok.

Only stayed for one night travelling up from South to North Wales. The hotel is well placed directly overlooking the beach. We were lucky enough to have a beach front room on the second floor, so the view was excellent. The hotel is close to all the beach front attractions an easy walk to restaurants and the peir. The hotel had a communal kitchen and common room, both were well equipped. The room had tea and coffee making facilities. There's no lift in the hotel so we had to carry out bags up two flights of stairs...not a complaint, but if you have any physical challenges this may not be the place for you. The room was small, very small with just enough room for the bed and a small table in the bay window. Likewise the bathroom was tiny, if, like me you are overweight you'll struggle in the shower. That aside the host was welcoming and helpful, the room and site were very clean and the bed was comfortable. It was a booked at a good price and if all you want to do is use the room to sleep then it's a great option. One last thing. Car parking it you drive there is likely to be a challenge.

Sadly degraded since our last visit

Friendly staff and fantastic communication to ensure we arrived with details of how to check-in etc. We have stayed at this hotel and left ok-good reviews, however, on this occassion we are sad to say we weren't impressed. It's a shame because it's in a perfect location, the building has great character and the staff are very approachable. It just appears that whoever is in charge doesn't want to spend any money on the neccessary basics. The room was extremely tired (Room 7). The bathroom fan didn't work, the fitting holding the curtain fell halfway down every time we opened the curtains. Wallpaper had come off the walls in sections. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, checking under the bed there was actually a panel missing too. The worst being that the door to the room actually had a large gap at the bottom which meant that you might as well had not had a door attached as you could hear ever conversation in the hallway and in the opposite room. We had to put a coat down to block out the hallway light. Last time we visited there were available plates available to anyone in the kitchen area. The carpet on the stairs was beginning to come away. Unfortunately, this time it felt like we were using plates that belonged to someone who appeared to live there as the only options in the (unclear) commune cupboards were a mix-match of large bowls and one plate amongst other kitchenware.

8/10 Very good

Nice place, horrible bed.

The chap on reception (might be the manager) was very friendly and helpful. Although there are narrow corridors, the hotel overall is not grim, and "feels" pleasant. It is certainly clean, which for an old building with the usual plaster cracks is some achievement. Getting a parking space is always a bit of a gamble that end of Aber. The public car park over the road at the back of the hotel is one we've used many times and never seen cars damaged or broken into. The mattress was horrible (the owners might call it "orthopaedic", I say "hard") and the pillows about the thickness of two thumbs. We had a sea-facing room and the table and two chairs in the window were a pleasant place to sit and look at the waves. The room is too small to fit a comfy chair in. There's a "cubby-hole" type wardrobe with iron, hairdryer etc, and the en-suite is small and functional. As a base for getting out and about, it would be great with a decent bed and pillows (at least you could sit on the bed in comfort, then). If you're young-ish and healthy, you can probably still sleep on a plank and be comfortable, so it wouldn't be a problem anyway. There is a large communal kitchen area, which is presumably why "self-catering" is mentioned by the hotel. There was a young family using the facilities perfectly happily when we were there, so it's probably a good option for a longer stay. Overall, I liked the hotel. But I like a decent night's sleep too. Upgrade the beds, will ya?

8/10 Very good

Very nice staff and comfortable bed however the carpet was old and worn to the point where there was hoops of carpet big enough to trip me by the bathroom door and sharp pins sticking up from under the window where it should hold down the carpet but there was not much carpet left there .. a few stains on the wall but other than that enjoyed it
