The people were great. However, the shower didn’t have hot water. Since the place is so old (and beautiful!) it tends to be quite noisy - you’ll hear your neighbors walking, sneezing, using the bathroom. Overall good, but next time I won’t be staying here.

Outside of the hotel is charming and it's in a good location. The hotel rooms need some serious updating. I love historic, but not feeling every spring in the bed, hot and cold showers and lumpy pillows. Not comfortable at all.

The staff were friendly and the hotel did have a nice historic vibe, but the bathroom was completely unacceptable. The bathroom walls did not join with the ceiling, and there was no separation between the shower and the rest of the bathroom except for a shower curtain, so once you took a shower the entire floor in the bathroom was wet. The temperature was impossible to regulate and the water pressure was very low, so you ended up with a trickle of water that was scalding or freezing, nothing in between. There is also no deadbolt on the door so as a woman traveling alone it did not feel safe. I was put in a 4th floor room with no elevator and it did not mention this anywhere in the booking which was also inconvenient.

The Tabard Inn was a wonderful stay for our team staying overnight in D.C. Not only can you see history in the city, but you can live in it at the Tabard. The restaurant has amazing coffee and dessert for a late night treat, and the staff were exceptionally helpful. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

The room was clean but the beds are old and creaky so if you toss and turn a lot it will wake you up. The pillows were very flat as well so if that’s an issue bring your own. The bathroom had this big claw tub shower combo that was very high off the ground when you enter and exit. There are no hand rails so it’s a fall risk people should be aware of. The restaurant was great! The food was well prepared, the portions were very satisfying and the staff was very friendly.

An old inn with a lot of character and a large lounge and restaurant with a club like and comfortable atmosphere. The breakfast was good and a nice touch to provide a $10 voucher towards breakfast or lunch and free coffee in the lobby in the morning. The shower had poor water pressure and the small hallway restroom was stuffy with a bit of an odor. Overall a nice but old inn with a good location if you want or need to be in that part of DC.

I enjoyed my stay at The Tabard Inn. Quirky and old-fashioned, the hotel even provided a free postcard that they offered to stamp and send out for you. It is an older building, so be prepared for some impacts of age (I.e squeaky doors, creaky floors, slow flushing toilets) - but those only added to the charm, in my opinion, not detract from it. My room also didn’t have a TV, which I quite liked, but could be an issue for someone else. Finally, I enjoyed brunch at the hotel, particularly the donut!

Well, be aware that a "private" bath may still mean going outside of your room to get there. I had booked a room with a private bath and a queen bed with a memory foam mattress, but when I got there I was put on the 4th floor which was a walk up to a room with two beds and the private bath was a bathroom across the hall that was technically shared with another room, but that room was empty. They did changes the next day and I did get a better room with an actual private bath, so there's that. Never got the memory foam mattress as advertised. If you like an early breakfast, this is not the place for that, as the restaurant is not open until 10am. There is good strong coffee available in the lobby every morning. It's a quirky, quaint place I would've loved in my 20's...60's not so much. Very kind staff.

Tabard Inn was eclectic in a very antique way, I believe it would be great for a romantic getaway, however that is not the type of trip my daughter and I were on. If you are looking for a cozy place to escape that is different from your normal hotels, it is probably good for you. But, if basic creature comforts are important to you, I suggest looking elsewhere. You enter the room and are immediately transported back to the late 1800s or early 1900's. Do not look for an elevator, in-room refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave or TV. Location was great but after a long day of exploring DC and going to museums this Inn was certainly missing the amenities that I would like to come back to in my hotel. Fortunately, many restaurants are within walking distance, just do not plan on keeping any leftovers or having cold beverages on hand without 1st going to a store. I also was not pleased with the transparency on Hotels.com, as none of this was detailed when I booked the room, as it would have changed my decision completely. Furthermore, onsite parking was listed under the amenities, either valet for $50 per night or a Tabard garage, what was missing was the cost of the self-park option! I highly suggest better transparency on the details so that travelers know what to expect and can make an informed decision. I certainly will do a lot more research before booking another room on this site.

Nice property with friendly and helpful staff. Overall, we had a great stay. The only downside was the bathroom in our room. It wasn’t very private because it had an opening near the top, so you could hear everything happening in the bathroom from the rest of the room. That made it a bit uncomfortable.
