Very clean and quiet, room quite small for a family room but adequate for an overnight

Lovely stay, great entertainment for the kids at night. Room was cosy, bed nice and comfortable. Could do with a few more tea bags as only 2 in the room.

Mini Summer Break

Stayed in a Wuzard Room at Explorers Retreat which was perfect fir our granddaughter. Really well decorated and special. Breakfast selection was limited but reasonably priced. Accessibility to Gulliers was perfect 4 min walk.

Yes very.Room on Wiind in the Willows theme. Bed soft and room far too hot. Found small sirt of termites in the bedding and was itichy in the morning, with bites developing the next day.

Had a lovely stay. Theme rooms are lovely. Bit noisy with guests above us walking passed but nice location & memories made.

Was a lovely little room. Clean and cozy. Down points are that room was too hot with no means to cool it down and no spoons or stirrers to make the drinks. Would deffo recommend but if your like me and get hot too quick then ask for a room with aircon.

We were pleasantly surprised with Gulliver's Kingdom since we have never heard of it. For a really great price we had a lovely 2 nights in the princess-themed room with amazing views of Matlock Bath. There were activities in the evening for the kids. They absolutely loved it

Great except cleanliness

Stayed in a pirate room and the theme was great and everything was decorated brilliantly. Plenty of storage space, small but sufficient room with great space saving and fun bunks for kids. Only issue was the cleanliness. There was food crumbs on the kids room ladder, sweet wrappers down the side of the shelf and chewing gum stuck to the lamp. That put a bit of a negative spin on it but if it had been cleaned properly then it's a great place to stay.

Basic but clean, comfortable, really enjoyable

Fairly basic room (made from a shipping container) but really quite functional, clean and comfortable. The bar/reception and kids entertainment area was smaller than I expected (compared to Gulliver's Valley in Rotherham), but it was pleasant and sociable, the staff were really friendly, and the kids enjoyed the entertainment. And the theme park is great, plenty to do, lovely surroundings. Food a bit basic but decent options in the main hotel restaurant. Even more basic with fewer options in the theme park (and nothing healthy).

Beds were uncomfortable. Apart from that brilliant

Unusual place to stay

The park was closed but the cabins were available which meant a quiet night. I suspect it may not be so nice when the park is busy with children. Easy walk to pubs and shops (a bit steep on the way back!). Very small cabin with double bed and bunks. Just enough room for two people but not too bad at the price or if you have been to Japan. Having a small wash basin behind the toilet makes cleaning teeth interesting but shower was fine for a small person. Good value for one night, friendly staff.
Michael, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The room itself was quite hot, the only way to resolve this was by opening the balcony door, which let in a lot of bugs and insects at night. It would be better if there was a fan or air conditioner instead. Another thing was that there was sometimes a bad smell coming from the boiler or around that area. Apart from thoss small problems, the room was very nice and clean. We enjoyed staying on the property.
FARHAD, 2-night trip

2/10 Poor

When picking up my room key the manager said id underpaid for my room so charged me an extra £16.75 which I duly paid. Having them checked my bank in the morning I could see Id clearly paid the corrext amount. I went to ask for a refund and they said they couldn't at 8am as no manager was on the premises..
Angela, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

We stayed in a pirate room which was about the size of a Premier Inns room and is made of converted shipping container The whole experience was more about theme than content We assumed wrongly from the description that we would have limited catering facilities in reality we had a kettle a microwave and a very very small fridge plus 5 mugs. We had to go to reception to ask for basic crockery and cutlery, there was nothing to use in the microwave. The write up said we would get daily maid service which never happened. The staff did there best with a tied outdated offering - shame
Deborah, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

Breakfast was unavailable although I was under the impression from the information given beforehand that a continental breakfast was available. Likewise, unless mistaken, I had been led to believe that there was daily housekeeping but this did not take place. The wi-fi worked well but a couple of channels didn't work for the latter part of the stay from the minimum choice of television stations provided. However, it was a good stay all in all: the room was clean and the outlook was very scenic - I basically had a pleasant , enjoyable time there. It was reasonably convenient of access to the local amenities and facilities in Matlock Bath although it was a bit of a haul up and down the hill to the hotel! The staff was pleasant. I did feel slightly cold in the room occasionally.

Great time

Fantastic stay. Super room. Wonderful entertainment for kids. Reasonably priced food. Will return.
Kathryn, 1-night trip

Not clean

The main parts (bedding, bathroom items) were clean but don’t look any closer at skirtings, radiators, edges or carpets etc. these were grim, dusty and full of cobwebs. The bedding didn’t fit the bed, the sheet didn’t reach the top of the bed and I had to redo the quilt cover. I picked up a handful of bits of fluff and debris from the floor before putting my baby down to avoid him putting them in his mouth, his feet were black from crawling.

Rooms smelled very bad!

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to this stay however I was in shock with how different it was. The smell of our princess suite was awful, absolutely damp and the bathroom was the worst. A very very strong smell of sewage and body odour. We found it really uncomfortable to sleep in but the kids bunk beds were the nicest bit. They enjoyed themselves so I would say this is not worth the money at all

The room was spacious and clean. And had a outside area. The fridge could be a bit bigger though.
