The Grand Hotel Telese looks the part. An old grande dame of a hotel with lovely entrance and great hall. It was good for kids, lovely pool and the receptionist was warm and friendly. The rooms were fine and clean.
Dinner let it down badly. There's only one place to eat on site, and no one was around to take our order, despite having booked a time and it being quiet. When the food came, it was bland and missing ingredients you'd expect from the dish as described on the menu. When we raised it with the service staff, we could see he was afraid of the chef and when he eventually told him, the chef tried to argue the case rather than accepting his error. We ended up ordering off the kids menu as there was clearly no interest in making things right.
I left a message for the manager that evening. At checkout the next morning, he showed little interest, and when I raised the staffing issues and the food directly, he defended his team instead of listening.
Decent hotel on the surface, but poor training, and the food was genuinely shocking.
