The Grand Hotel Nanaimo

quick business trip. hotel near meeting site, very convenient!

Check in was great but checking out the clerk hardly said two words to me. Our glasses and coffee mugs were not replaced with clean ones during our 3 night stay. Pop and water machine was sold out and was told it was going to be restocked the day after we checked in but never was. Overall not happy with our stay.

When I first arrived it was dark and the lights outside were not on. I walked in to register and the man behind the counter seemed uninterested in his job. No kind of welcome or personality. I did like that the hotel had a dog at the check-in counter. Parking was plentiful and free. Elevator was old and slow. Inside was older and signs of wear and tear were evident i.e. cracks in floor tiles in washroom, counter top in bathroom separating from wall. Bed had a definite slant towards the nite stand due to countless people who have slept on those spots prior...new mattresses needed.. A/C work great. Black out curtains did their job. I would not return here.

For the most part the room/suite was very spacious and clean. However, when I returned to the room on the second day, I do not believe that the room was vacuumed and there was not a new box of tissue left in the bathroom. Nonetheless, my stay at the Grand Hotel was a good experience.

Did not like pets in the hotel
