This hotel is dog friendly, dogs are allowed to stay in every room. I knew the hotel took dogs but I wasn’t aware there were no rooms allocated for people don’t want a pet friendly room or have a pet allergy. One the plus, the hotel has fantastic sea views. Breakfast was ok, a reasonable choice of cooked food but if you want a fried egg with your breakfast you have to ask the waiter. Only scrambled eggs are on the buffet.

The hotel has the best views over Portpatrick and the bay. The bedroom was spacious but tired, needing some TLC. The reception, bar and sitting areas are nice as is the outdoor sitting area. The breakfast room is in a grand room but I felt the breakfast itself was mediocre. A nice stay but I wouldn’t rush back.

Great location with panoramic view of Portpatrick. Car parking on site which is included in the cost of your room as long as you register with reception. Very clean hotel . Dog friendly with dedicated areas of the hotel reserved for dogs and their owners. Breakfast is self service buffet. The plate warmer and the hot food warmer do not keep the plates and the cooked food warm. Coffee machine was broken so only instant coffee available at breakfast hence a score of 4 out of 5.

The hotel is in a great position overlooking the harbour. We had an amazing sea view which they upgraded us to. It was clean but very tired. The bathroom wants desperately to be updated even though everything worked. It made the room look dirty even though it wasn't. The beds were springy could do with new mattresses. But as I said it was all clean and did the job.

Portpatrick Hotel was ok Staff were very friendly We arrived at about 3.30ish and hadn’t had any lunch and asked to have something to eat but kitchen was closed until 5.30 The room was clean enough but very dated Bed was a small double and not very comfortable however another couple we spoke to said their room was really nice so maybe we should have asked to be upgraded Breakfast was lovely but menu for dinner limited and my husband wasn’t impressed with dinners although mine was ok We had a dog too so would have preferred a room nearer the front door

Hotel was clean ,our bedroom was clean ,requested a sea view and it was lovely watching the boats ,some stopping to fish and others just sailing by, staff were all so friendly and helpful and nothing was a bother to them,there was also plenty of variety for breakfast,we had a lovely time. Beautiful seaside Victorian hotel! Staff were stretched thin but very friendly, dinner and breakfast were great, high ceilings in the room, stunning views out the large original windows. Some parts of the room could maybe use a deep sanitize clean, bathroom had an odd aroma. Room and hotel were well appointed otherwise. The walk down to the lifeboat station at sunset was 👌and the hike to Dunskey castle the next morning was incredible.

My overall view is 'faded grandure'. Most of the hotel needs a complete refurbish. The staff were very helpful and did their best with poor facilities. Having stayed here before it was as I expected. My only negative feedback was the lack of clarity on 'half board' that does not include all courses for dinners this year (only starter and main - NOT pudding) It's reasonably priced for the facilities and suited my group of 12 golfers

Had a great time, the chef Ian is an amazing cook food was delicious, his lovely wife tash served us dinner and drink’s and kindly wrote down place’s to visit. All the other staff were happy smiley especially the young staff Olivia from reception and Josh serving breakfast. The excellent staff definitely make’s the hotel a great place to visit.

The hotel is in a marvellous position overlooking Portpatrick. It's rather dated but comfortable and extremely good value for money. The supper menu was rather limited and service rather slow. We appreciated the upgrade to a superior room with sea view. The big disappointment though is now being charged for parking there, which was never the case at a previous stay. Hotels don't normally charge for parking in their own grounds.
