Really cool hotel with character. We loved the beautiful spacious bar and hangout spaces downstairs. The staff was very positive, nice and helpful. We got to reserve the hot tub which was awesome and the pool was a great for a cool off afterwards. Really bummed about our recent stay at Field Guide. We’ve come here a dozen times before, but it’s really going downhill. Fourth of July weekend we got relocated due to failing air conditioning. This Labor Day trip we got a room that overwhelmingly smelled like mold, had water damage on several walls, and mildew in the bathroom. Breakfast used to be exciting and a treat… this time it was a bowl of yogurt and some bagels 3 days straight… and the second day they ran out of plates and food for a half hour. There are also no high chairs for families traveling with children. No one is ever working the front desk and no one serviced our room the second day.

In fairness, we only stayed two nights and didn’t spend a lot of time at the hotel. The Lodge offered a nice array of amenities (hot tub, pool, bar, outdoor pavilion with bands (on Thursday night). Our plans didn’t allow us to enjoy them to a great extent. We ate across the street at The Bench restaurant. It was very good. The Lodge’s free breakfast was minimalistic… bagels, fruit, hard boiled eggs and cereal. It’s an old property. The staff and ownership have done a nice job keeping it viable, but we’ll most likely try another spot next time through.

The process was simple from start to finish. The check in desk staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, the property is unique and has a freshness that is not corporate so you feel the community in it's bones. The amenities are plentiful, breakfast was a welcome delight with build your own yogurt bowls, fresh fruit, deviled eggs and croissants....and of course premium coffee. It is my go to when I visit this area.

Zane keeps the Field Guide Lodge spiffy, clean, running smoothly and fun. He gave us excellent restaurant and must-sees recommendations that were spot on, and he took extra time to make sure we were well cared for. Somehow he was able to do all this and start a fire in the fire pit for us.
