I’d rate Cypress House Inn at the top of the scale — and higher if I could! It is one of the few bed and breakfasts around, which the proprietors, Bill and Veda, have run more than 20 years. Clean, cozy and neat as a pin, they’ve taken loving care of every detail. They treated us like family, providing a beautiful breakfast (including a personal breakfast tray for my son the morning he slept in). The inn itself is a beautifully restored 1946 hunting and fishing lodge, with gorgeous pine floors and paneling, and is just a short walk to a gorgeous beach and a few blocks to the Wright Brothers first flight site and museum. They provide beach towels and beach chairs and umbrellas. Bill gave us fun facts on every aspect of the Outer Banks and recommended places to eat and sightsee. We will definitely stay here next time.

We had a perfect stay at the Cypress Inn. The innkeepers were very hospitable, friendly and informative. Our room was clean and cozy. There was coffee, tea and hot chocolate always available; which I enjoyed. The location to the beach was excellent. There was a lot to explore close to the B&B. We will definitely be back again!

A cut above

Wonderful place to stay on the Outer Banks. You get to know the other guests and the owners over a home cooked breakfast every morning and they now put out wine in the evening. The Inn provides a far more personal and homey experience than the nondescript hotels lining the beaches on the Outer Banks. Definitely a cut above!

Cypress Inn is a perfect location to visit for exploring the Outer Banks. It’s right at the entrance to the beach, a great bike rental is a 5 minute walk away and we could bike to the Wright National Monument. Many restaurant offers and we loved the homemade breakfast each day at the inn. The guest room was spacious, cozy and the modern bathrooms were perfect. Can’t wait to visit Bill and Veda in the future.

This was our first stay at a B&B and I don't believe we could have made a better choice. The house was lovely, inside and out, and our hosts were friendly and accommodating. Our room was clean and quite comfortable. Breakfast was scrumptious and the time to sit around the table and visit with the other guests and our hosts was time well spent. Comfortable and welcoming

We were welcomed by Veda and Bill and felt very comfortable from the start. They were very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. We enjoyed meeting other guests from other parts of the country. The room was cozy, the bathroom was modern, and the breakfasts were delicious. We especially liked the availability of water, coffee, and tea in the upstairs hallway.

Fantastic B and B

We had the best time at Cypress House. Very cute place with many amenities to support time at the beach. Centrally located to everything. The beach is right across the street. Breakfast was fantastic and Bill was so great to talk to. Even though they had a death in the family while we were there they had a backup plan and we were still well cared for. We will be back!

Cute little dormer had everything we needed. Much more than a “room rental.” Owners very helpful and anxious to please. Abundance of info given on surrounding areas and dining. We thoroughly enjoyed all the dining options they recommended. We should have paid more attention to the detail that renters need to climb 3 sets of stairs. We did not have a problem with that (other than ground or second floor would have been easier) or but others may. A good experience for us.

We feel that we stayed at the PERFECT PLACE!!! Loved the east access to the beach, the wonderful breakfast, the beautiful room and bath but most of all, Veda and Bill are great hosts!! I would recommend this Inn to everyone I know that is traveling to this area. I haven’t mentioned how fun the area is but the whole area is relaxing , has great seafood restaurants, the Wright Brothers Memorial brought to life just what the brothers went through in planning and executing the first flight; we loved seeing the lighthouses (the Bodie Island Lighthouse was our favorite) but the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse was amazing as well and to know that engineers planned and had a team move this lighthouse 2,900 feet in 1999 to protect it from being washed out in the ocean was an unbelievable feet. If you are looking for a vacation where you just want to relax, this is it!! Thank you to the Cypress Inn for the nice accommodations!! Harold & Paula Cornett

We stayed at the Cypress House Inn in August 2026, I really can't say enough good things about our stay. We had personalized service from the moment we walked in, and by the time we left, Bill and Veda had us feeling like family! My mom, sister and I stayed in the loft, and it was the perfect size for us - plenty of room, and so thoughtfully appointed: dishes, silverware, even wine glasses (guess they knew we were coming!), a full refrigerator, microwave, sink, Keurig (and even provided coffees, creamers, tea, etc). The room itself probably could have used a little more light, but it was comfortable and decorated nicely, not over-the top like some B&Bs, and thoughtful touches in the bathroom as well! And the (included) breakfasts were amazing - always starting with fresh fruit, different kinds of coffees and teas, and better food than I've had in any hotel restaurant! The house itself is in great shape, very well-maintained, though the stairs to the loft are probably due for a little paint - but sea air will do that quickly. Otherwise, it was the highlight of our visit to the Outer Banks, and we'll probably find reasons to come back there, just to stay at the Cypress House Inn! Highly recommend!!!

Bill and Veda are the most wonderful innkeepers we have met in our travels. Their home is very clean and welcoming, the rooms spacious with mini fridge, hulu tv, and they offer bottled water, ice machine access downstairs. The breakfasts were phenomenal with attention paid for food allergies. They offer beach towels, chairs and umbrellas to use for the beach which has access right across the street. But most of all they are the kindest and most interesting couple sharing stories of their travels and the local area for us to check out.
