Sandy and Kathy were great hosts. A very warm welcome with a glass of wine on the porch with the owners and other guests. It was like staying at a friend’s house. If you want to stay somewhere different then the Scotsman Inn is the place for you. The property is furnished with antique furniture, quality bed linen and toiletries. If you are lucky you get to share a glass of wine with the hosts who have a wealth of information that they are happy to share. This is a unique comfortable inn. Just remembered to pack light for your stay, there is no lifts and lots of stairs.

Small independant Inn. Rooms are small but comfortable, but it is a climb to reach them so if you have mobility issues, this could be problematic. There are no ammentites in the room, each floor has a communal bar fridge and coffee maker, and there are no TV's in the rooms (not an issue for us but might be for others). Its a great central location in Pictou, short walk to local shops and restaurans and our room had a nice view of the water which was about a block away. Lots of parking, great outdoor patio where you can join other guests and owners for a chat and a glass of wine just after check in Inn which is at 4 pm.

First, the accommodations were top notch, charming and very comfortable. Our Scottish host -Sandy- was welcoming, delightful, very helpful with trip planning and an all around interesting and entertaining fellow. The stay was worthwhile just to interact with him! The homemade breakfast, using NO PLASTIC was also fantastic! Will be back.

This is a lovely place to stay. The property is very well cared for, clean, and charming. Our room was well appointed with beautiful linens, boutique body products, and the bed was so comfortable! What a great experience!!! Hosts went out of their to make sure we were looked after. Rooms and dining room were so well furnished and decorated. A definite “old world” British feel. Rooms are not large but it added to the experience. Highly recommended.

Sandy and Kathy were very pleasant and down to earth hosts. The room was beautiful and the quality of the bedding was better than I have at home. There is parking off the street just beside the accommodations but be sure you are ok with stairs before you book as the check in desk in on the 2nd floor and rooms are on the next two floors above that. The stairs are steep but not crazy steep. There is a lovely outside area to mingle with the hosts and other guests and we were offered a complementary glass of wine which was lovely. Now there is the comical Sandy who serves you breakfast in the morning, for a very reasonable add on, ..you get granola, yoghurt and fruit, croissant and jam and coffee, tea and or juice. One guest came in a little after the others and went to pour his own coffee and Sandy told him "SIT.... you're not at the Holiday inn or Best Western, I WILL SERVE YOU" as he walked around in his kilt - YES his kilt I memorable stay -

Wonderful rooms, spotlessly clean and every little detail thought of even down to a black facecloth to use to remove makeup if necessary or any other ‘messy’ job to save the beautiful white towels etc. Ample parking. Breakfast was continental, warm croissants made by Cathy, served with flair by Sandy dressed in his kilt in a stunning dining room. A wonderful source of information too with suggested routes to get the best from your visit. Thanks for a wonderful stay and maybe bump into you both sometime in Dumfries and Galloway.
