Overall, it was an ok hotel. It was basic which was reflected in the price. The room itself was good, clean, had air conditioning but needed a mirror. Ear plugs are provided which was very welcome as it can get quite noisy with emergency service vehicles going by quite often.
I did not like the shared bathroom as there was only one toilet & 2 shower cubicles. The lights in the bathroom are on motion sensors so the 1st night i had a shower there, I did so in the dark as I didn't know this & thought someone had turned the light off. After this, I had to wave my towel about in the air to try turn the light on again. Just as a warning to future guests, be really careful when stepping down out of the showers as the step is quite deep & the floor is tiled.
The bathrooms only seem to be cleaned/restocked around 10:30 every day so the 1st night I was there, there was no toilet tissue in the bathroom until the following day.
The hotel is situated very close by (2 minute walk)to the Rato stop on the yellow subway line.
Very nearby is a Japanese restaurant called "Ramen Joe" that I'd highly recrecommend. When you leave the hotel, turn left & walk straight until you reach a park. It is gorgeous to walk around there for a while. There is a few ponds & one had turtles! I did this on my last day there in 31°C & it was a relief to walk around in the shade. There is a beautiful church there too called Basilica da Estrela.
