This is a fantastic unique spot, with many things to do and a great Italian restaurant. We liked the cozy tents. A couple of things were concerning. We did notice, that many of the tents were left open, unoccupied and the bedding had been used. Since it's the end of the season, they may have let some workers go, so they are not bothering to clean up right away. It was a bit strange. One other thing was in the middle of the night there were cars revving their engines and squealing tires very close by for about an hour. It kept us awake, since we were right beside the highway. I was a bit concerned since we were the only ones staying in the tent area, that someone could ransack the place. But, I imagine in the summer time during busy season this place is fantastic. We will go back.

Beautiful quite grounds located in a great area. Not the safest bear safety education nor doors to the tents very secure.

A special romantic place for a couple getaway

The location is amazing, our cabin was next to the small lake surrounded by forest, it was clean and comfortable with a small kitchen to make our breakfast. The property had many romantic spots to sit and enjoy a glass of wine and a floating bridge across the lake to the italian restaurant. The food at the restaurant was off the chart good both in taste and presentation. The walk back over the lighted bridge in the dark to the cabin was especially romantic. The perfect place to getaway for a couple

We booked Ruby Lake Resort because it offers dog-friendly accommodation with a kitchen. We stayed 3 nights in the Deluxe Cottage, 2 Double Beds, Kitchen, Lagoon View. The resort itself is in a beautiful setting with plentiful opportunities for wildlife and nature viewing. The Italian restaurant on site is the real gem here. We would have chosen to stay elsewhere if we'd known that the cabin would be dark, damp and musty-smelling. The cabins have a lagoon view, but passersby (other guests walking or driving to their cabins, staff in golf carts) can peer right in when you have the drapes open. One of the beds is starting to sag. The bathroom window screen is torn, so the window can't be opened without letting bugs in. The resort decided to turn off the water supply on the morning of checkout - apparently repairs were needed on the water tanks. Ruby Lake Resort was just a collection of things that kind of almost work but not quite. More examples from the owner herself: - all the guests staying in the glamping units share a single portapotty due to a portapotty shortage - the credit card payment machine is flaky so your transaction may or may not go through, putting the onus on the guest to return to the front desk in the morning to retry the transaction The good: - it was clean - the bathroom was spacious and the nicest part of the cabin

Property setting is idylic. Good beach for kids. Kayaks, etc., available. We arrived at 4 pm. No one at reception. Someone from restaurant came in and said that check in did not open until 5 PM although reservation said 3 PM. We prepared to look around for an hour but then another person arrived and checked us in. He showed us approximately where our cabin was located on a map but when we arrived in the area it was a maze of tents and cabins with no signage to help find a specific one. We evantually foud our cabin and discovered it was a bare wooden box with two rather elderly looking beds and no bathroom although on Expedia a full bathroom was listed as an amenity. We went back to reception and, fortunately they were able to upgrade us to a cottage with full bath for a modest extra amount. The cottage was nice but still fairly basic. Reasonable for the cost. However, bath did not drain well. Staff were friendly although woman who seated people at restaurant was rather brusk and strident. Fortunately, there was a very nice young man backing her up who was friendly and helpful. Food was good but not great. Food prices reasonable.

It's okay & a nice place to stay if you just want a quite environment.Best time to be here is probably summer(we went during fall).Do know that this place doesn't have wifi (which shocked me a bit as we booked it quickly) & the network signal is not too strong too.Nevertheless, its a pleasing place to stay in.

This resort is unique, peaceful, neat and tidy. I enjoyed the nature walks and the beautiful lagoon outside my front door. Staff were polite and very helpful. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Away from it all ..

We asked the check in lady where we could get a coffee . She could not help.. we drove 20k for coffee later to find out she could have easily given us the ground coffee, cups and sugar etc to make coffee in the common kitchen.. also no restaurant on certain days... so pack as if you are truly camping .. otherwise its a very nice, serene camping area.. great swimming in the lake..

A very nice resort experiencing the camp vacation in the clean tent and water sports in Ruby lake from the private access of the resort. Next time I will choose the tent with lake view which maybe more beautiful and quiet.

Mediocre property. Heavy mouldy smell. Very limited utensils set is available , even at a “deluxe” cottage. Soundproofing is terrible. Unsafety access to the Lake. No crossroad , no special road signs. However , the beds are comfortable. Shower is hot.

Ruby Lake

We really enjoyed our short stay and we were all sad to leave. The grounds were whimsical with little gardens and birds. The lake was warm and a beautiful turqoise colour. The kids enjoyed the variety of water activities. The washrooms needed some maintenance...no toilet paper etc but otherwise a very good time!
1-night trip

2/10 Poor

We do not ever post a negative review, but…. …this was actually a big mistake and we did not even stay at the resort after paying and checking the place out. 1. The Safari Tent @ $230 a night is a joke. We are used to all kinds of accommodations traveling the world, and this should be 50 bucks at the most…even then I’m not sure if we would stay. We were lucky enough to find a great, well-appointed room at the nearby West Coast Wilderness Lodge in Egmont @ 229.50……while looking for a place to eat. And we also tent at the BC backcountry campgrounds, where BC Parks have great, environmentally friendly outhouses…a plastic port-a-potty??? 2. The restaurant the at the resort is closed on Wednesday 3. Even the way you suppose to park is…a questionable requirement. While there is a large, safe spot right by the tent, you have to drive trough a backroad to a very small, unsafe spot and descent with your stuff by a narrow, steep trail and stairs 4. The resort has plenty of rental equipment….except not enough safety vests due to the sanitation practices. The lovely receptionist, who was very polite and professional, suggested we should go somewhere to buy some and then they would rent us the equipment. (With all the due respect, we received an email that there might be a shortage of vests…but if you want to rent your equipment, shouldn’t you prepare for it ???) It was our last moment decision to stay a day longer at the Sunshine Coast and I'm glad we did not have to finish it like this
