The location is undoubtedly the best thing about Hotel Marina. It is directly opposite the beach in Port de Sóller, with lovely views across the bay and plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance.
Unfortunately, the hotel itself was very disappointing. It feels dated, tired and rough around the edges, and certainly didn't feel like a four-star hotel to us. The towels were old and frayed, there was no complimentary water in the room, and the accommodation generally felt in need of refurbishment.
Breakfast was basic, and I was particularly surprised that only one coffee per person was included at breakfast. For a four-star hotel, that felt unnecessarily cheap. Service at the bar was also poor.
None of these things individually would necessarily ruin a stay, but together they created an overall impression of a hotel cutting corners rather than delivering a four-star experience.
It's a shame because the location is genuinely excellent and the property has enormous potential. Ultimately, though, it felt as though the location was doing most of the heavy lifting. We loved Port de Sóller, but wouldn't choose to stay at Hotel Marina again.
