Reception was very helpful recommended very good restaurant where I ate each night. Staff always courteous and helpful. The room was spacious, well appointed, recently updated and very clean. It is extremely conveniently located, 4 minute walk from the station an 6 from the city centre. The is a Co-op supermarket between it and the station which was very useful. Breakfast was nice and early, from 0630, and was an excellent standard, varied continental breakfast. I had a 3 night stay and would definitely return if in the area again.

It was convenient to the train station, had nice, clean rooms and it was great to be able to arrive as early as 2pm! It was quite expensive compared to the value and I would have appreciated if the reception was open to giving me a late check out of one hour, but they were not willing to entertain it. It served our purpose well though, so I am happy.

We arrived late and picked up our keys for the room from the front desk. There was no hotel staff at that time. We went to the room and found out that the key card reader was missing. So we couldn't get into the room. We called the emergency number and the person at the other end said that he was in Zurich and couldn't help us. He said he doesn't know anything about how to contact the hotel people. We were desperate. By then it was midnight. We finally managed to find a room at Hotel Merkur in Biel. They have staff at the hotel 24 hours a day. It was a very good hotel and the same price as the City Hotel Biel. We have never seen such a terrible hotel as this City Hotel Biel. They do not care about you and they can leave you stranded.

The only downside to this stay is parking. Road construction has blocked entrance to the lot. You have to drive on a pedestrian path to get to the entrance which is a sharp 90 degree turn . Level “0” is actually the rooftop the parking app description is a bit confusing.
