Pros: Excellent staff; super convenient location; wonderful and comfortable bed, lots of pillows; awesome shower pressure; great AC. Cons: Small shower/toilet area, so if you’re a bigger person, the bathroom might be uncomfortable. Thin walls; I could hear normal conversation next door, etc. No mini fridge in room, communal one in basement. Run down in small locations in the room like wallpaper peeling.

We enjoyed our stay at Porter Square. It's very conveniently located if you're doing stuff in the Harvard area, and right across the street from a T station. Lots of things to do in the area, lots of restaurants and bars, shopping. I had the impression when I booked it that it would be more convenient than it was to walk into Boston, but again, it was possible to take public transportation. The valet parking was very considerate and convenient and not-unreasonably priced. The hotel is well-designed, and the common areas are nice. Though we didn't have a chance to try the restaurant downstairs for dinner, it looked nice. Our room was small, like a hotel in Europe, but was great for what we needed (a clean and comfortable place to sleep). We had windows facing the street, but it was really quiet anyway. I could hear the occasional rumble of a train, but nothing disturbed our sleep. We would stay here again if the neighborhood suited our interests.

Rooms are indeed on the small side but if you are a single traveler or just using the room for sleep it's no issue at all, plus the price was far less than surrounding options. I love this hotel.Staff is lovely, room is spotless, and they kindly called me and arranged pick-up for a small item I left behind. The location is perfect -- within walking distance to wonderful dining, shopping, and Harvard Square. It does not offer many amenities but is within a stone's throw of many restaurants, shops, and convenience stores (including a Star Market, Target, and CVS).

Valet parking was efficient and responsive. Rooms are small and shower was tiny. Robes are made of a cheap and not cozy fabric. Bed is very comfortable. The restaurant and bar seemed nice and convivial. Too bad there is no breakfast offered on weekends. Hotel is well located for North Cambridge.
