Surprisingly affordable, in the midst of downtown White River Jct., our stay in this historic hotel was pleasant and charming, the room clean and inviting, and the staff welcoming and helpful. Check in and check out were a breeze. Parking is still free for guests, and a breakfast voucher is available to use at the restaurant.

Here's the thing about the Coolidge. Its old. They don't hide that. However, the rooms are clean, the staff is nice, you can walk to dinner and sweet art galleries. I was very happy with my stay. If you like sterile hotels this isn't the place for you. If you like hotels with some character and fantastic staff definitely give it a try!

This is a very old hotel on the national historic record. Because of that the doors and floors creak and the floors slope. The bathroom has older fixtures but work fine. Our room was actually two rooms; one with a queen bed and one with a small couch and sink. Both rooms had TVs. We had a small fridge. Bed was comfortable. They had an elevator that was very slow but since we had heavy items we were very grateful for it. The stairway and moldings were beautiful. If you enjoy historic architecture you will appreciate this hotel. The parking seemed a bit sketchy but was actually fine. They had a fireplace and a Keurig in lobby so tea, coffee and hot chocolate available 24/7. Also had vouchers for discounts at neighboring breakfast sites. They are dog friendly, but only for specified rooms. They also had a refundable $100 charge for any damage done due to the dog. There was a $25 charge for the dog which is pretty standard. All in all it was a fine place to stay.

I have mixed feelings. The website pictures looked great, comfy and sorta romantic. I paid for a suite (180+ a night x 2). We knew the hotel was old but at least spend a little for cleaning, paint, clean carpet, rain leaks and maybe larger smart TV. The king bed bent in the middle and was not comfortable. I felt I way overpaid but we chalk it up to “the experience.” The good: excellent location, great staff, nostalgic, lobby/hallway decor is precious and the little cafe attached is cool. Just clean the rooms better (include steam cleaning couches/furniture) and make it feel warm and cozy not too old and unclean. The town is really cool!!!

Staff was wonderful! Our junior suite was comfortable. We enjoyed some of the older touches of the place as it evoked good memories of times gone by. Things are basic and it was very clean. The bed was comfortable and we were thankful for the ac that we could control in the room. Lots of easy walking and interesting places to eat in walking distance. Only downside is the parking so be prepared to walk a bit. There are a few handicapped spots right outside. Would certainly come back and stay again. It is a rare treasure.

Overall, the stay at Hotel Coolidge was a lot of fun -- truly a nice and historical hotel. Everything from the large stairway bannisters to the floor creeks to an actual key (!!) to get in the room! The building obviously takes so much to keep it up and running. Some of the amenities that others might desire didn't work well or weren't available (TV, breakfast on site, other up-to-date features), but those didn't affect us. There are many restaurants and bars in walking distance, and the neighborhood is quiet and safe. Thank you!

Definitely has character. Be prepared for a very slow check-in. The floors are very very slanted. They highlight a New England visual artist in their lobby. It is clean. I've never had this happen in the US before, but they required IDs from both adults. They do not offer breakfast, but rather give you a $4.50 voucher for nearby restaurants which start at $8 - 10 for breakfast sans coffee.. The hot water disappears while taking a shower - I think this might be because others are flushing. ..
