Booked a room for my wife's birthday, hotel emailed me a week earlier with any special requests, allergies, etc., which I replied to. However, upon check-in the reception were not aware of this so that process is a waste of time. Why bother asking the resident all these questions if you're not going to pass the information onto the hotel?
That, however, was a minor annoyance, what was more of an issue was a leak we had on the ceiling of our room. My wife had noticed a stain when we checked in at 2pm but thought nothing of it. However, a few hours later we spotted water dripping from the ceiling and puddles on the floor so reported it to reception. A very helpful manager went to our room to inspect it and upon his return said that they had spoken to the residents above us who, apparently, had a bath that afternoon which overflowed! We thought that was the end of it expecting the water to dry out overnight. Not the case. When we woke up the floowing day water was leaking from the ceiling onto the floor and drenching the dividing wall between the bedroom and the bathroom. The plaster was coming off the wall and our towels were soaked. I still had a shower but water leaked over the floor and the extractor didn't work so the bathroom ended up like a steam room and completely unuseable. This saga ruined my wife's birthday so we checked out a day early and booked another hotel. The hotel did compensate with a partial refund but I would not book another Linwood hotel again.
