Charming is the right word for this place, it is really lovely. We stayed for one night in July 2026. The front desk manager (owner?) was incredibly professional and helpful and remembered who we were and was extremely responsive to all our requests. The guesthouse is off of a narrow steep street that cars often won't go on, so be prepared to walk a little. The rooms are compact but we had a queen size bed rather than two twins pushed together, which is fairly common there. The breakfast was quite a spread and very good. Be aware the pool is small (like 6 people tops) and only two chaise lounges but we enjoyed spending time there. Good water pressure and shampoo/soaps provided. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful hotel in a walkable and lovely area. The breakfast is delicious with quality items. The staff are very kind and helpful. Property is historical so some rooms are smaller. The only thing that would have made my stay better would be having a fridge and being able to drink my own yummy Portuguese wine without paying corkage fees.

Great place to stay

Lovely small hotel - spotlessly clean throughout and beautifully presented. The position means it is easy to reach lots of key areas and/or catch local transport. The staff are all friendly and very helpful and seem to genuinely enjoy working at Charming House. Breakfast is excellent, lots of freshly prepared choices and the hot option is kept topped up rather than a tray cooked at the start and left throughout. We really enjoyed our stay here.
