This is a low cost property, but for the low price, it's very good. It's clean and tidy, but certainly not salubrious. It's not particularly conveniently placed relative to the town, but it's on a major bus route--the (very frequent) number 1 route that goes right to the central bus station.
There's not much nearby except for a couple of small stores, and the airport is just under a mile away, down a steep hill. That was a good thing for me as I had to walk there. There was a mixup when I asked the staff to order a taxi for me. I had a suspicion something was amiss, so I just hiked down the road. I later found that I was right, no cab ever came for me. Be sure requests like this are clear and acted on immediately while you watch.
The room was clean, the beds comfortable, the TV mostly worked, and the air-conditioning was good and effective. My room had a view (over the airport) to a bay, but despite that, aircraft seemed to be rare enough that I only recall hearing one in the two nights I stayed, and that was during daytime hours. That's a relief, since there's really no significant soundproofing in the old building and I was a bit concerned at first.
I think there's supposed to be a restaurant on the premises, but I was here in June, rather off the shoulder season, and it didn't appear to be operating.
The staff took my laundry and did it for me, returning it clean, dry, and neatly folded the next day, for about US$7 as I recall.
Very fa value for little money.
