My son and I stayed here on a recent hiking trip to Colorado. We loved this place. Our room was very clean and comfortable, and we loved the charm of the hotel. The staff was great, too. We highly recommend!

This is a quaint restored hotel built in 1911 that tries to maintain the ambiance of a 1911 railroad town. Furnished with period furnishings wherever possible while providing in room bath/shower facilities certainly not included in rooms in 1911. Everything clean and neat with a "rec room" that has multiple free offerings of snack and breakfast items. As we were there to ride the historic Cumbres & Toltec Narrow Guage Railroad our stay at this historic hotel completed the historic trip.

The building doesn’t have good AC. It’s a historic building and a great place to stay in cooler weather

There were two restaurants within a minute walk. A nice deck to sit on, a common area with a pool table. Lots of historic memorabilia. Close to the train station.

Great old hotel
Perfect location. Everything was in walking distance. Fun funky place with a lot of character. Wasn’t a fan of the steps but the deck was great. Nice hot steamy shower and the bed was comfy though could have used a couple more pillows. The breakfast choices were lacking but there’s a great place right across the street.

This is a rustic hotel, built from an old bank building.
The rooms are efficient. The bed was comfortable. Our room had a corner shower in the main room, so vanity might be an issue for you.
We had a small refrigerator, but no microwave. There is a window mounted air conditioner which was rather loud. The hotel is located on the main highway through town, so traffic noise was an issue.
There's a very good restaurant located across the street, and a nice grocery store just one block over, so eating isn't a problem.
There is plenty of parking. The rooms are all located on the second floor, so you have to haul everything up a flight of stairs.
Overall, for a small isolated town, this is a decent place to stay. However, don't expect any type of luxury. The place is a bit run down, but is also sort of charming.
If you're planning on riding the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad, this is a great location to base yourself. You're only a few minutes drive from the Antonito depot, and the next town is around an hour's drive away, making this a very convenient starting point.

This is not your steel and plastic holiday inn. It is a step back in time! It is clean, quaint, western inn. Paul, the owner, is a native Antonnian, is very nice, doing whatever he can to make tor stay enjoyable. A nice, small deck area is available. Paul will make a recommendation about restaurants. I would definitely stay there again!!

The Steam Train Hotel is a unique, period hotel which is commiserate with the vibe of Antonito CO. The Four Seasons this is not, but it was clean. All of the fixtures and features of the room worked just fine and security was decent for this small town America location. If you're in town to ride or watch trains, this hotel is a great way to get into the spirit of things.

Hotel has a rustic feel that contributed to its charm. Our room was nice, with a separate living area and kitchen. Check in was easy; Paul met us at the hotel and showed us around the building and gave us dining recommendations.

The room was like a suite and the owners helped with local sites, restaurants and carrying our luggage.
They were organized and placed antques on the hallway making the rooms feel homey.

I always love staying in The Steam Train Hotel when I’m going through Antonito in the San Luis Valley. It’s cute, and the staff are wonderful. It’s a great place to stay if you’re going to ride the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad. And the stay includes a continental breakfast with a little bit of everything for everyone. This was my second stay, and I’ll be back!

Loved the unique decor, comfortable, convenient, and the price is right. I even had a antique piano in the room.
