We had an excellent stay. Our room was spacious, with a separate living area, and had spectacular sea views. Plentiful parking on site, friendly staff and an excellent buffet breakfast. The ApartHotel offers a great value-for-money stay. We really appreciated the self-catering facilities, but it would have been helpful to provide washing up liquid and a cloth.

Nice stay in Sagres

We had a nice stay! The location is amazing and the room was spacious. The view from the room is something. The only thing I would say is when we arrived, the bathroom smelt awful (sewer smell).

We read reviews as to what to expect, and we got exactly that. The stand out the member of staff was Jose, who was head and shoulders above other members of the Hotel team. The initial room had a stench about it when we first walked in, but given the room has quite nice views, we decided to put the smell down to the room perhaps not being aired, so decided not to say anything. By day two the drains (the probable cause) of the smell got worse and the shower became blocked. The initial response from the hotel was very disappointing and let’s just leave it at that. We will not be staying here again nor would we recommend it to others for fear of them having similar experiences.

Time travel at the edge of Europe

Hotel location is perfect. The quality of the building was perfect when it was built, but it is 50 years old now. Needs a big renovation. There was some kind of drilling on the 3rd floor and the complete contrete structure was shaking.

Perfect Base for Surf Trips with My Boys

I stay at Aparthotel Navigator often with my two boys when we come to Sagres to surf. The hotel is old, but everything works – clean, spacious, practical – and the price is a real bargain. I’m glad they don’t waste money on unnecessary renovations. It keeps costs down for families like mine and avoids needless waste that’s bad for the planet. I’d rather spend on experiences with my kids than on shiny hotel decor. If you want honest, affordable comfort in a great location, this is it. We’ll keep coming back.

Staff were great, property description does not match what you receive. Property is a 1980’s pretty dilapidated building, rooms are adequate but not great - twin bed situation, kitchen area very basic and the shower needed an update about 15yrs ago. Breakfast was actually cold. Staff don't seem to have any pride in their environment. Owners need to spend €€ updating everything. Staff were wonderful though.

More like a 2-star hotel. Good location.

The location was good. We asked the hotel to provide our sea-view room on top/upper floors, but we were given the room on the first floor. We were told that the second and third floor are temporarily closed, but we did see a guest in a room on second floor, so it was strange. The hotel didn't have a warm breakfast for vegetarians, but a few vegan items were arranged on the second day. There were some unknown noise during the night. The toilet seat could not stay in up position. The room and overall hotel gave a feel of 2-star hotel and not 3-star hotel.

View was excellent. From 3rd floor you can lie in bed and see the ocean. 10 minute walk to beach. Long to other locations mentioned on Expedia web site. Rest was sub par, spars. No couch or good chair to sit on. Plastic patio furniture for dining. Extremely poor lighting. Had to use cell flashlight to see what we were cooking in evening. No double beds left even though booked one. Can hear everything from hall/ next unit. Very few plugs. Very very old. No modern conveniences. Whole place smells like cigarettes. There was an ash tray in our room even though we requested non smoking. I do not recommend.

Love this place. Small town charm with good restaurants only a block or two away. Safe and quiet. Feels like a California beach town circa 1965. Hotel is well maintained and rooms have great views.

It’s not bad only as a cheap room, but on this trip we’ve paid similar prices and received a much higher standard. This hotel feels as if everyone has just given up, the whole place is old, in need of complete renovation and dirty. Our room had additional guests in the form of mosquitos, without a doubt the worst bathroom I think I’ve ever stayed in, and having been to 104 countries I’ve stayed in a few dreadful ones, but this is not a third world country, this is Portugal and a popular resort area. The toilet seat wouldn’t stay upright, so it closed on your back. The bath had no plug and was rusty near the drain, the shower curtain was dirty. The bathroom door veneer was splitting at the base, there was no soap for the bidet. Breakfast was also poor, the mango juice was watered down, the orange juice was powder and didn’t have enough dilution and rendered it undrinkable, eggs were hard and the baked beans had a sweet taste. Unless you’re desperate to stay here, please look elsewhere.
