The Shells has really lovely staff and a 24/7 buggy service to get around the resort (from pools to room or restaurants/reception). However, the resort rooms lack cleanliness as the once beautiful white tiles have a yellow tinge to it. I sympathise with the choice of white as Phu Quoc can get very hot and white is less likely to retain the heat. I trust that they are clean, however, upon first glance, feel a little put off. The rooms are spacious and the pool is nice to use. 2/3 of the pools were under maintenance and I believe that they will reopen at the end of 2024. The shells is a decent stay, however I don’t believe it is still the 5 star resort it once was.

The best thing about this resort was it's staff. The resort itself was advertised as a 4 to 5 Star resort. given my extensive travel I would rate this resort in its current condition with consideration of the staff only a one star. place is run down outdated room decor in dire need on a complete refurbishing. You can not make something old, dirty damaged unkept any different except when taking photos from a distance that will not show up the problems as they have done in their presentation. The management spoke to us before we left and asked us for some feedback and we gave them the exact same response as above. We respectfully told them that unless things change dramatically we could not see ourselves returning even though the location is great.

Although the property is wonderful I was not happy with the staff - they are not friendly or ever smile. More importantly I was not provided with a detailed receipt of the charges in English. The receipt was in Vietnamese and hard to understand. Some of the Charges seemed to be not clear. Please provide clients with detailed receipts.

This so-called “5-star hotel” was, without a doubt, the most horrifying experience of my life. If there were a negative rating, I would use it. From the moment I stepped in, it became clear that this place was a complete scam. Let’s start with the room: dirty, damp, and crawling with geckos. Now, I get it—geckos are common in some regions—but I didn’t expect to share my bed with them! Speaking of the bed, the linens were disgusting: stained, unwashed, and emitting a musty odor that made me question if they’d ever been cleaned. And then, the cherry on top: bloodstains. Yes, actual blood on the carpet and one of the walls. I don’t know what went down in this room before my arrival, but it was enough to make me feel like I was in a crime scene rather than a luxury hotel. The bathroom was equally appalling. The tiles were cracked, the shower barely worked, and there was mold growing in the corners. To make things worse, housekeeping clearly didn’t do their job—the trash bin was still full of garbage from the previous guest! The “amenities” were no better. The pool looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, with murky water and broken loungers scattered around. I tried to raise my concerns with the staff, but they were indifferent and dismissive. The manager was nowhere to be found, and no one seemed remotely interested in addressing the multiple issues I brought up! The only thing this place deserves 5 stars for is how quickly it made me want to leave. Stay far, far away!

My villa room was huge & looked comfy! However, my blanket was discovered dirty and towels on the third day were also soiled. Property is dated and furnishings are old. Aircon in the Flow Restaurant was not working during my entire stay. Don't expect top-notch service from the staff; if they ever greet you a "Good morning" or "Hello", that's the best they can do. Property is about 15-20 mins ride away from the town area, and it's not possible to walk out to the main road. Only 1 restaurant is available for lunch & dinner, and food options are limited. Breakfast spread is considered normal. Fortunately, it's still affordable to get a ride to town and night market area. It's a good resort away from the hustle and bustle of life cos their villa room is big, the property is huge with lots of greenery and they have their own private beach, though next time, I would just stay for 2 nights only.

Beautiful location, fabulous breakfast . Room floors had a lot of live and dead bugs and hair . No lock for sliding glass doors but being on the second floor it was probably safe.

Wir waren von dem Hotel sehr enttäuscht. Denn wir sind von 5 Sternenhotels ein andere Sauberkeit und Hygiene gewöhnt. Auch die Hotelanlage selbst ist in die Jahre gekommen. Angefangen das unser Boden schmutzig war, bishin das alle Sitzmöglichkeiten sowohl in unseren Deluxe Zimmer als auch außen verschmutzt waren. Die Wasserhähne, die Dusche und das Waschbecken war sicher nicht geputzt und auch auf den Kopfkissen als auch auf der Decke waren Flecken. Um ehrlich zu sein sah das nicht gewechselt aus. Wir wussten nicht so wirklich wo wir uns hinsetzen sollten, weil einfach alles so schmutzig war. Davor waren wir in einem 3 Sterne Hotel und selbst die waren sauberer. Die Pool-Bar war eigentlich nie besetzt. Für den Müll im Meer kann das Hotel natürlich nichts, Lust zum schwimmen dort macht es aber auch nicht. Die Bilder die online sind, sind wahrscheinlich noch von der Hoteleröffnung. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis passt hier nicht. Ich würde es eher als 3 Sterne kategorisieren. Das Personal war jedoch immer freundlich und hilfsbereit. Auch das essen war ganz lecker. Die Massagen sind jedoch viel zu teuer. Da das Hotel abgelegen liegt, braucht man entweder ein Taxi- die stehen immer parat oder einen Roller. Wir entschieden uns für einen Roller. Im Vergleich sind auch diese teurer zu mieten. Ein Roller hat dann einen Platten bekommen, bei einem zweiten leuchtete die Motorkontrolleuchte. Tja, dann blieb der Roller stehen. 4 Kilometer zum Hotel musste dieser dann geschoben werden. It s a very nice hotel; however, it is getting a bit old. The rooms are extra comfortable and it is very quiet. We were at the hotel not the villas. The view is spectacular specially to watch the sunsets. The cleanliness could be improved and the towels provided could be less harsh. The set up is also very nice except for the beach; it is very small and you can’t take a walk. The food is good but can be improved. All the staff were very nice. I still recommend that place. We slept like babies!

Langt under forventning.

Hotellet ser godt ud på billederne men det er meget slidt og ved at falde fra hinanden. Stedet var sikkert på toppen med 5 stjerner tilbage i 90’erne men manglende vedligehold har sat sit præg på stedet. Det er totalt nedslidt. Det er ikke varmt vand - hverken til badekaret eller et brusebad. Afløb er stoppet. Toilettet virker hvad anden gang. Restauranten leverer under niveau og alt for dyrt. Morgenmaden er ligegyldig. Stedet ligger ikke i gåafstand til byen, så man er afhængig af taxa. Poolbaren sprøjter hardstyle techno fra kl 10 hver dag. Vi flyttede fra stedet tidligere end planlagt. Personalet skal have stor ros for deres indsats og forsøg på at gøre opholdet godt - det er dog en umulig opgave i de rammer. Hotellet burde klassificeres med 2 stjerner.

It was really nice to have a swimming pool and beach right in front of me, and the coffee at breakfast was really delicious. Please tell me the name of the coffee. The room we stayed in was a little old, but the other rooms seemed to be remodeling in sequence. If I go again, I will stay again.
