It was quite an experience! The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the ‘theme’ of the hotel was driven by its previous usage, to maintain that level of authenticity the building had quirks, features and a level of old charm that were both fun and challenging. The area is not great. There were plenty of police outside of the hotel, but the entrance to the hotel is frequented 24/7 by addicts and ne’er-do-wells that could make approaching the property threatening. The reception is manned (and by some truly lovely and charming people), but that reception is upstairs away from any direct duty to keep the traveller safe meaning that approaching the door is controlled by you with a lock and key, or by intercom. Many reviews mention the stairs, there is no lift and they are potentially challenging, especially with plenty of luggage. The decor reflects the hotel’s previous life as a brothel and is great fun. To be fair our room was clean, quirky and a good size. The staff kept apologising that our room was deficient to the tune of a ceiling mirror, but the see through showers and well placed wall mirrors were both surprising and offered a level of authenticity that perhaps the hotels.com description lacked. If you are looking for a conventional experience then this lack of candour may sway your experience. There were many positives. The location relative to the central railway and bus stations was ideal. The rooftop balcony was a fun addition in this vibrant area.

Ok but not more.

OK hotel close to Hamburg Bahnhof. Quite rough neighborhood, especially during the sundown hours. There is no lift and many stairs to walk up (and carry your bags!!!) so be aware! No Hotel lobby or luggage room. They were very kind to let us leave our luggage anyway when we arrived at 5:30 am. The room was clean and ok with a fan. Breakfast ok. The Hotel was on all in all, a bit too provet, I would not stay again due to all the stairs/neighborhood/price.

We had a wonderful experience at Hotel Village. Most hotels are quickly forgotten after a trip, but this is one we will definitely remember. Two things made our stay especially memorable: the unique interior and the people. The hotel has so much character and is connected to the history of Hamburg. We think it is worth staying here for at least one night just to experience its unusual atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, but we would especially like to mention Amir at reception. He was one of the nicest people we met during our trip — always smiling, incredibly helpful and full of positive energy. He answered all our questions and explained everything in detail. My wife likes hot tea in the evening, and instead of just giving her a cup, Amir prepared a whole pot of tea for us. We really appreciated such a thoughtful gesture. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the shower has excellent water pressure — exactly what you need after a long day of travelling and walking! There is also a fridge at reception where you can buy drinks. There may be a few small things that could be improved, but we hardly noticed them because our overall experience was so positive. For a three-star hotel, it is excellent. Thank you to the whole team, and a special thank you to Amir!

We went for one night and we arrived late, and the man at the reception received us very well, with a very welcoming treatment, at check out the same thing happened. The room is large and with good heating, we do not feel noise. The decoration is a bit particular, but to get out of the ordinary we liked it. It is very close to the train station.

Decent hotel, locatio near train station was why i booked. However. very noisy through the night with locals shouting and playing music in the street until daylight. Even had a group sharing a ceack pipe in hotel entrance on Friday night. Staff very friendly, just take some very good earplugs

I am lucky to get a room while every hotel was sold out due to the OMR festival. But this is a seedy area near the train station, my room was a 3rd floor walkup with no lift, and the price for essentially a love hotel was about 3 times what it would normally be thanks to the demand. This may be exactly what you look for, in which case it would rate more stars

Originelle Unterkunft, sehr nettes Personal. Räume sind gut, sogar mit Badewanne. Allerdings kein Lift, viiel alter Staub an der Einrichtung, billige Wartung. Trotz unruhiger Umgebung aber sehr ruhig (wir waren im obersten Zimmer, 5. OG). Kleiner Balkon vorhanden.
