When my daughters and I arrived on the evening of June 27, I was surprised to learn there was a required $100 deposit. This was not disclosed during my booking through Hotels.com, so I was unprepared for the additional cost. When I explained that it wasn't in my budget, the front desk attendant told me my options were to either pay the deposit or cancel my reservation and find another hotel. Since it was late and we were traveling with children, we had little choice but to pay it
.
Unfortunately, the room itself did not reflect the reason for requiring a cleaning deposit. There were taquitos on the floor, mostly under the bed, hair in the shower, and the TV remote was broken and held together with electrical tape.
Before checking out, I recorded a video showing the room was left clean because I wanted documentation in case there was any issue with the return of my deposit. I also informed the front desk about the condition of the room when we arrived. The employee I spoke with was polite and apologetic, which I appreciated.
Overall, the unexpected deposit combined with the cleanliness and maintenance issues made this a disappointing stay. On our return trip, we stayed elsewhere and had a much better experience.
I should have taken more photos, but I did get footage of the taquitos that were under the bed. We discovered those ones the next morning. There were more on the floor the night before that were by the door, and I cleaned those up.
