The hotel and its setting is lovely and conveniently placed for everything in Ely. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The copper bath was quirky and easily fitted the two of us, however there was nowhere to put a glass of wine or our towels. Some sort of mobile rail and a small table would have resolved this, in what was a very spacious bathroom. The towel rail fitting on the sink was hanging off, but once we reported this the next morning to the cleaning lady, somebody repaired it immediately. The cleaning lady was also extremely helpful with all other requirements that we asked for. The breakfasts were very tasty and the choices were fantastic.
The one thing that we thought overall let down our stay was the parking facility. There are some disabled spaces and a drop off area within the hotel courtyard, however the main parking is in a small gated area within a public car park 5 minutes walk away. There are not enough spaces within this area when the hotel is at capacity. This means you then have to find suitable alternative car parking. If you feel that on-site or more convenient parking is an absolute necessity, as we do, then you will be disappointed.
Having said all of this, most of the staff we met were very polite and helpful and taking into account individual parking requirements, the hotel is definitely to be recommended.
