Great stay at a boutique hotel, only seven rooms, in the heart of old town Porto. Staff, room and breakfast were all excellent. Very welcoming. Close to all the major attractions. Not good for people with mobility issues, as old building with no lift. We were on fourth floor, so our poor knees got a workout. Aside from that, would highly recommend.

The stairs can be a bit challenging if you’re not used to them, but the staff’s care and attention, the lovely breakfast, and the building’s charm more than make up for it. Hosts and staff were incredible! Mickey was a delight and really made you feel welcomed with amazing tips. Room 4 was incredibly noisy though. There is an aircon unit or generator that makes a loud banging noise intermittently from the outside. Also the tea/coffee station for all the rooms is right outside that room 4. I was woken up several times late at night to people making tea as the floor boards in that area are incredibly loud. The breakfast was good but there were many fruit flies on the food.

A delightful 4 day city break with my mum. The friendly, helpful staff and calm guest house made the trip lovely. Chris and Mickey were warm, smiley and went above and beyond when very busy they still each gave us a warm welcome. The yummy biscuits, water and hot drinks available were most welcomed too. The guest house was ideally located, easy to find and Central meaning we could pop back in the afternoon for a short rest when mum needed it. We stayed in the superior room which was spacious, clean and with soft, comfy bedding. I will certainly be recommending this as a place to stay with friends and family. Thank you!

Cale Guest House is a heritage property with many stairs. We knew this prior to staying, but still a lot of climbing. The amenities were simple, yet met our needs. The staff were great, the rooms tidy and clean and beds were absolutely the best. Breakfast was quite adequate and tasty. The location near the river was ideal for dining, but crazy busy for the end of September. We enjoyed our stay.
